Suppressors Suppressor mounts

Hello all I’m currently waiting on my first can to arrive in another 5-6 months. In the mean time I’ve been ordering quick detach mounts for a few rifles, most of which are brakes that need to be timed. What are you guys using for shims or are you sending the rifle off to be mated? I absolutely hate the mfg’s stainless shims that are way to large for my barrel. I’ve thought about a matte black crush washer with loctite but am unsure. Any advice here? Also threads are 5/8”.

As far as I know, most can manufacturers say not to use crush washers because they can introduce some cant and cause baffle strikes.

I would also like to hear about shims that area bit smaller diameter. Mine are larger than bother my barrel and dead air brake.

Maybe you could sand them down once set?

Self timing QD muzzle breaks. Or I use the shims that come with my Rugged mounts. Or spend the money and have your barrel timed to your break... lots of options. Dont use crush washers

I’ve always read not to use a crush washer but never knew why. @padom are there any self timing muzzle brakes that fit a yhm suppressor?

Also @padom what is the outside diameter of the rugged shims? Current rifle is .725” at the muzzle. Brake is .860”. Shim is .875”

I have this issue with my Bergara HMR.. The shims are larger than the shoulder on the muzzle threads.. causes weird issues if Im not super careful.

I would love to find a peel washer or set of shims that have a smaller OD.

The YHM brake. The flash hiders all work on my ar’s. Just looking for something less ugly on my bolts. (7+)

Dead air mounts come with a set of different size flat washers. Pretty easy to time yourself I believe they are .8" in od diameter.

Crush washer is definitely a no go. How about black thread spacers? Will those work?

The YHM brakes come with shims. Hit me up if you didn't get any.

Oh I have the shim set that came with the brake. It’s just that they are larger than the brake in diameter. And stick out like a sore thumb.

I believe I have found a solution. Down range products offers a black stainless kit that has an outside diameter of .748”. They also offer a kit that is .810” in diameter.

Is using a jam nut to time the brake/mount a bad idea or a no no like using crush washers ?
