Suppressors Suppressor wear - FH vs Brake

I'm looking for information regarding how much life a brake gives a suppressor over a flash hider.

Suppressor is a 762-SDN-6 on a 10.5" 5.56mm SBR, semi-auto. Firing schedule will be like that of a class: not mag dumps, but there will be periods of rapid fire.

I've heard that a brake will act as a sacrificial baffle and save the baffles of the suppressor. I'm curious if anyone knows more specifically than that how much wear on the blast baffle is being saved.

Yes a brake will act as a sacrificial baffle, I have a few thousand through my M42000 with brake and aside from the soot it looks brand new.

Mine was shot during matches and no full auto.

The mount doesn't look the greatest but easier to replace a mount than a can.

With a 10.5" sbr the brake will take the blunt force of the blast, saving your can!!

When placing our annual renewal order with AAC 2 years ago at SHOT, we talked to them about SBR suggestions. They recommended use of the break on SBRs, especially shorter than 10.5". I was curious about my 9.25" POF in 5.56. They said that there should not be a problem with that set up, using a break and the M4-2000, but that if I wanted to ensure no damage with FA or heavy mag dumps, to go with a 7.62 can.

So, with a break and a 7.62 can on a 5.56 like you mention, AAC said you should be quite safe. My experience with my 9.25" and M4-2000 mirrors that other post- break erosion, but can is fine. No end cap strikes though.

It's going to do just like they said. Most people are not going to wear that can out anyway. They are very stout.
