anyone out there using the 60 or 100 round surefire mags? are there updates ie different generations yet? how are they holding up? can you take mag apart for cleaning any feeding issues??

Re: Surefire AR mags

I have a couple of the 60 rounders and they have been fine. I am not sure what Gen they are, but I have put probably 900 through one and 500 through another. They aren't that bad to take apart either.

Re: Surefire AR mags

I work for the company but I do have a lot of experience with them. Like anything we make we are constantly making improvements. My test magazine that I have been running since before we started shipping them has around 3,500 rounds through it with 1 malfunction other than locking the bolt to the rear. On my SBR's suppressed sometimes it will not lock the bolt to the rear but in all honesty my pmags will not lock the bolt to the rear all the time suppressed either.

I prefer the 60 over the 100 because of size and weight. I run a 60 all the time and it works like a charm. It is short enought that unless you are very short you can get in the prone with it and also it gives you a stable platform for shooting magazine prone. I put magpul 7.62 pull tabs on mine just to act as a buffer for when they get dropped on the ground.

You can pm me if you have any other questions.

Re: Surefire AR mags

Second what Chuck said about the mags. I have the 60 round and they work good. I would probably only run a 100 on a SAW or something you need alot of rounds fast through.

Re: Surefire AR mags

I've shot several hundred rounds through my 60s with only one malfunction. Two rounds got stuck side by side around where the two-column follower met the four-column while reloading M193 fom a stripper clip. Emptied the loose rounds and gave it a light tap on wood to free the obstruction. Worked fine the rest of the day.

Re: Surefire AR mags

They work great if they are clean. get any dirt in them and it is a no-go. My 60 failed me at Superstition Mountian and Ironman this year. I run 30rd PMAGs with the 18rd Nordic extension and it works great. I still love my 60, but I don't trust it in competition anymore.

Call SureFire and send it back. Mine has over 3K rounds through it suppressed and I have never cleaned it. Yours might be faulty.
