Guys, I'm looking at buying a 338L that has a surefire brake. Will I need to have the barrel cut, profiled and thread to run an ACC Titan can on it? Both are threaded 5/8-24. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Surefire To AAC TITAN

This may be a dumb question but do you already have the titan can? My experience (which is limited)has been that the surefire brake and can are awesome...unless I already owned another can. Then I would convince myself I need two. good luck. Er

Re: Surefire To AAC TITAN

I don't have the can but have paid for it and waiting on the feds. Buying another can is not out of the question, but neither is buying a different rifle. Just trying to see if by chance this would work with no modifications.

Re: Surefire To AAC TITAN

Is your Titan setup as a direct thread mount or is it gonna use the fast attach brake/adapter? The Surefire brake/adapter is 3/4x24tpi , and AAC offers a brake/adapter with that same thread spec , the only trouble may be that the barrel has been turned down to fit the Surefire brake , but if I'm not mistaken that brake can fit over barrels up to .870" so it would have to be a fat ass barel needing to be turned down.

Re: Surefire To AAC TITAN

It is set up as a direct thread mount. I was wondering if it needed a shoulder to set against and concerned that since the barrel was turned down for the surefire brake that shoulder would not be present.

Re: Surefire To AAC TITAN

How big is the barrel , like what conture?

If the barrel was turned down to match the SF brake then it's minimum would have to be .870" (If memory serves) and in that case their will be a shoulder presant if it was threaded for a 3/4x24 thread.
But if the barrel was only .775" or so at the muzzle then turned down and threaded then their may not be enough shoulder.
