I’m looking for some feedback on surefire vampire series lights. I need a white light for an SBR, and I’m playing with the idea of a white/IR light and then a DBAL I2. Would the vampire light have enough illumination to outperform a DBAL A3?

These are the lights I’m looking at

The smaller one would be nice for an SBR but the lumens is lower. Doesn’t show anything for candela specs on the white light. I don’t want a useless white light if I’m really compromising going with a dual white/IR light.

I just think it would be nice to have white/IR in the same light with a dual control switch and just use a DBAL I2.

I have a bunch of Surefire lights going back to the oldest styles. Only thing I do not like is the manual of arms with having to get your hand close to the business end of your rifle when switching modes.

They are bright enough in WL/IR but both sacrifice a little. I get mine off Ebay.

They'll most likely be much brighter than the a3 illuminator. I have an old m952v that I rarely use but it works well. My only reservation with the vampire lights is that when I want white light I want it rfn because something has or is going sideways.

Does anyone have issues with excessive spill causing the NODs to down gate when using the the vampire lights? I don’t have one. And am new to the world of NV. Was looking at one and someone whose opinion I trust indicated that it “could be an issue.” Because of the lack of focus adjustment.

ETA: he wasn’t bashing Surefire. Said they have plenty of pluses. And Actually sells them... in a way. I was just curious if anyone else had that experience. I’m leaning towards a TNVC torch because of that.

Just based on my youtube research, the SF lights have more of a hot spot beam illumination, so there's not a lot of spill. The Inforce light had a lot more spill based on what I saw in the video. Unfortunately, I have no hands-on experience to reflect on. Just what I've seen on youtube videos.

Again, i have a full power PEQ15 and i use a Surefire Vampire. That is one of the main realsons. The beam is easier to use. It looks cleaner and seems to work better. I have been usimg this set up since the Vampire ligjts first came out.
