Gunsmithing Surgeon 1086 LA and CIP+ Length Magazines

I’m doing a 30 Sherman Mag build with a Surgeon 1086. I wanna use the Hawkins CIP+ bottom metal to use the 3.850” magazines but was curious if the Surgeon action would need the mag well relief cut like standard Rem 700 long actions. Anyone know?

I have a 28 Nosler on a 1086 modified by Gradous to accept CIP magazines. Feeds great, it just requires some minor surgery.

I'll echo. They will work, just require a bit of fiddling to make them nice. Not a major problem

I have a 7mmRM reamer set up for what you are trying to do. I'll look for notes but the 183gn SMK I have loaded are 3.500" long and the 195gn EOL will fit in the 3.775" mag. IIRC, they load at about 3.6" OAL. I went to shooting monos for hunting and am shooting up the last of my 183gn SMK, 162gn A-MAX, and 175gn ELD for practice.
