I've been diagnosed with kidney disease for some time now. However it hasn't been THAT bad. That is until this month's bloodwork. I was scheduled for an AV Fistula Stage 1 procedure on Monday, so I had to have another round of bloodwork. However, the results came back with some REALLY bad news. I am now in end stage kidney failure. So now they are doing the fistula and a catheter. I will be starting dialysis soon after the procedure. I wasn't expecting to have to start dialysis for 6 months or more (that's why the fistula) but now it's hit me in the face. My Creatinine went from a 4.16 to a 6.28 in a month which is really bad. Now I have to go into a hospital and dialysis center with all this COVID19 crap going on. My family is worried, but it is what it is. Wish me luck or send a prayer if you will.

    Thanks!

Hang in there buddy, prayers out for you and your family. Hope you make it with good results! Have you/are you considering transplant options?

    Thanks!

Yes, I'm in the process of being put on the national transplant list. I'm trying to lose enough weight to be considered for the pancreas/kidney transplant. BMI=Worst Enemy.

I've been going in as a visitor. My hospital only allows one visitor for pregnant women and babies. Been doing a bit of both. My wife had really substantial bleeding due to a placental abruption 3 weeks ago. I've been there every day since. She had two more incidents during her stay. This past Tuesday she had another significant bleed coupled with severe contractions and they did an emergency C section. The hardest part has been the Corona precautions. .. As long as my wife was a patient I could visit my twin boys. She was released yesterday and the rules state only one visitor for the duration in the NICU. So for the rest of their stay, unless there are rule changes, Mom is the only one who can see them.

I pray for your family. Keep the faith brother!

You get well. I know the transplant list can be a twat. Any family or friends that can help? What's your blood type?

I haven't considered the living donor yet. My disease wasn't that bad that I thought I'd need it for a few years. I have type O negative blood. My transplant hospital says that O negative patients have a waiting list of about 7 years. Seems like we wait the longest. I've been to the hospital and am unofficially on the transplant list. I just have to get a few things (tests and procedures) and I will be officially placed. However the pancreas/kidney list would only be about 2 years. That's why I'm trying to lose wait. Kidney replaced and no diabetes if I can have the pancreas and kidney replacement.

I made it through alive. Had a few complications. Just before I went to the operating room, I started feeling like my glucose levels were going low. Sure enough, they checked and I was at 62. They said they'd give me something in my IV. They rolled me into the OR and the next thing I remember was waking in Recovery. Didn't feel too bad, but I felt worse than just the usually recoving process. Got home about 3pm. Since I hadn't eaten anything since 5:30pm yesterday, I was hungry. So I ate a ham sandwich and a ice pop cream. Then I started feeling REALLY bad. Chest hurt and high pulse rate but no other symptoms of a heart attack. Called the surgeon, he thought it could be an anaesthesia poisoning but he would also recommend a trip to the ER. Going to the hospital once today was too many times for me, and unless the pain got so bad, I'd have to go, I wasn't stepping foot in the hospital. I decided to check my glucose level at around 7:30pm. It was 364. WAY TOOO HIGH. I took a shot of insulin and checked it an hour later, 399. WOW. Took more insulin, back down to 364. I'm waiting for 10pm before I check my levels again. The last thing I want to do is go hypoglycemic, so no more insulin for the night. So, hopefully, I'll be okay soon. If not, I'll be calling a few doctors tomorrow.

Prayers and optimistic waves sent to you....

Medicine with respect to kidney diseases today is amazing. My mother was one of the first kidney transplant patients in 1970. She lived a LONG life.

    So will you!
