Swapping barrels on a 457

There is only one problem with installing a match barrel in a mass produced rifle.
In order to obtain better results, you have to purchase better ammunition.
A match barrel doesn't make cheap ammo better,
it just doesn't add to the already existing problems.

Pillar and bed the receiver, add a custom barrel,
tune the trigger and see how much difference it makes.
You might even need to bed a portion of the barrel.
Add lot tested ammo to the setup and the results ought to be worth the expense.

Allen how does the rifle shoot now? Post some group sizes. The MTR barrels accuracy differ and some are much better than others. If you have a good factory barrel the improvement found by going to an aftermarket barrel is/can be minimal. What are you wanting as far as performance? As Justin stated above it takes high end ammo to get the best performance. If you plan on spending the bucks for top line ammo you can realize all the performance of a high end barrel. If you shoot cheap ammo you can't reasonably expect consistent top line performance.

Allen, I would ask the same questions Merlin asked. How does the rifle shoot now? What do you expect from it? I put a lot of money into a 455 a couple of years ago and it does shoot great. But buy the time I had all this work done, I'm not far from the investment I have into my Vudoo, and without all the headache. If I were to do it all over again, I would have just pillared and bedded the 455 and kept saving money for a better rifle.
