I just got a new prefit for my Impact 737 in 6creed. My current 6 creed barrel has around 1000 rounds. Was thinking of putting the new barrel on and breaking it in. Is there any harm from swapping back and forth and use the current barrel as a practice barrel and the new one as a match barrel?

As long as the threads are clean, and you don't cross thread it, no problem. I take mine off to clean every 200 rds or so.
Just have a good barrel vise, action appropriate wrench and torque wrench. I put a light skim of copper anti-seize on
my barrel threads.

do you notice a predictable return to zero?

I haven't noticed any zero shift after proper torquing. My set up is: Impact action/ Stuteville barrel/ ZCO in ARC rings/ MPA Matrix chassis.
It does take 2 or 3 rounds of fouling to come back, though.

No harm at all. I have a done it a bunch of time changing caliber. I only pull them off when I need to change.
