Just got a gap non typical in 308. Looking for a good quality light scope. The Swarovski z6 3x18 50 is the lightest out of nf,s&b,uso. Is it as durable and reliable as the other scopes mentioned?

Re: Swarovski???

I put a z5 3.5-18 on my 233 thinking it would be the last scope I ever bought on that gun. Was very disappointed. The BRH turret sucks, there's no numbers on with the marks, only the colored rings. The wall stock must be pretty thin to keep the weight down, if you flicked the objective bell with your finger, it sounded like a tuning fork. Currently have a 5-22x50 and prefer it. I chose the Swarovski over a Zeiss Conquest, but was more impressed with a buddy's zeiss.

if you get the z6 with the 30mm tube, it should be better then what I had.

Re: Swarovski???

I have had a cheaper 3-9x36 Z-3 for about 4 years on and AR-10 and really liked it. I do only hunt with the gun and shoot on a staic range at 200 yards...

I'm ordering a Non-Typical and I plan to place this scope on it until I can get into another USO.....

But for a hunting scope I think the Swarvoski is a pretty good buy as I usually just set it on 5x and leave it.....

But I have shorter shots hunting in the Ga. and Al.....

Re: Swarovski???

I think it depends on your background. If you are used to a tactical scope then I think march might be a good option. If you are used to hunting scopes, there are none better than swaro IMO.
I know people poo poo march warranties but it is a scope by itself as far as features and weight go.
Also if you are a tactical scope guy, the premier light tactical is another option.

Re: Swarovski???

Thanks for all the input. I have a march on my jp lrp and really like it. I am looking more towards the hunting side with this one. Think I might try the Swarovski. I have their binos and love them. Thanks again

Re: Swarovski???

The BRH is to be used with the ballistics program or with stickers that come with it. Each hash mark will signify a different distance for each caliber etc. The ballistics program(downloadable, I have one for the iphone) informs you what distance hash marks signify for each gun. I have swarovski, kahles and zeiss conquest scopes. I cant see how a conquest would compare to a Swar.

Check that = $1900 for that scope without illumination

Re: Swarovski???

i've been using the swarovski 3-18x50 z6I since last year, optically you can't beat it, and i've found mine to be repeatable and durable, at least in my experience during hunting. the ballistic turret is probably the easiest system for new shooters and hunters, i've sold a ton of them and seen customers take everything from marco polo sheep and other exotic animals, to whitetail, hogs and coyotes. I wouldn't hesitate to use a Swarvoski on a hunting rig. that being said, because it's a hunting scope, it doesn't have as much adjustment as a tactical scope. I can elaborate on this more if you need me to.

I took the above animal in new mexico at 350 yards with a 3-18x50 z6i with the ballistic turret system.
