my question is, is that a farm raised deer or a wild one? if it's a wild one, it's got a crazy shaped rack and quite impressive-kind looks like the one i killed last year, except this one has quite a bit more mass than the one i nailed.

i was shown some pictures of pen raised deer....kinda amazing what they can grow given the right minerals and conditions, and yet kinda perverted at the same time. i dont understand people that would shoot a pen raised animal and then act like they did something special.

hopefully this is a wild deer and that guy has every right to be proud if so.

Dang nice ones.

I was hunting 3rd rifle last week with a cow elk and doe tag.
saw more big damn bucks thank I could shake a stick at. All less than an hour hike and real trophies. No one would hike to get em.

Thinking of doing a 2 day sortie next year with a buck and doe tag.......

Those are some gorgeous typical!

Some big ole boys in Tennessee as well. Both killed on my father in laws property during bow season. I'm itching for some vacation to get up there.

Just about everyone I know who is on a lease puts in food plots and minerals. Even small plots make a big difference early year. It takes time, but we have seeing our deer go from an average of maybe 100" to maybe 125-140". Doesn't sound like a lot, but it sure look sure looks like it as they walk through the brush.

Is there any antler point restrictions in Virginia? Here in michigan everyone shoots 4 and 6 points. I try to let them pass but it getts hard when the neighbors shoot anything with antlers.

"Visible above the hairline" - Sadly, we have to deal with the brown and down crowd and the clubs that use dogs. Prep the land, do the food plots, managed bedding areas, get some nice bucks on camera, .... and it's all blown to fuck when the club's dogs run a deer from 2 miles away onto your property, lose the trail, and jump up your trail cam superstar.
There is a growing movement to outlaw the hound hunting completely. Many western counties already have done it. I can see both sides of it. I have hunted with hounds, and it IS fun, but if you QDM, chasing deer with dogs has to go.

We deal with the same thing in Indiana. Most people operate on the "if it's brown, it's down" mantra. Unfortunate.......but to each his own.

I'd say Indiana has made significant progress in this regard in the last 20 years. If you have a FB account do a search for the "Bucks of Indiana" FB page and you'll see some very nice deer coming out of Indiana these days. You can look at lease prices over the past 10 years also, the quality bucks coupled with how cheap it is for non residents to kill deer here has driven prices up and out of range for a lot of folks.

It's pretty amazing what you can end up with once people start letting them grow up.

**I don't get down on anyone for what they shoot as long as its done lawfully, to each his/her own**
