I have a POF USA rail on my AR I just built. I am planning on throwing my SWFA 3-9x42 on top of it. I want to keep it as low as possible to the rail because the buttstock is fairly low and I don't want to run into any cheek weld issues. So what are you guys running with this size optic? And yes I did google and search around before I asked and just came up empty handed! I do appreciate it!

I use an ADM Recon mount for my 3-9 on my OBR 5.56. It has plenty of clearance. With the POF it would be high for a cheek weld though. Unless you are dead set on rings, I would go with the ADM Recon SL for your application. It will clear the rail up front on the scope, but I'm not sure how much room for butler creek covers you would have as I haven't used it specifically. I like my ADM mounts on an AR platform.

Objective size of the SWFA is around 1.930" (Based on the ID of Butler Creek #30 scope covers which fit that scope) 1/2 of that is 0.965" add back about 0.15" if you going to run BC covers = 0.980".

So basically you need 1" tall 30mm rings if your going to Run BC covers at all. If not you could get by with rings 0.97" high like those made by Seekins Precision.

I appreciate it guys! I'll look into these rings!

If I had the extra dough laying around I'd certainly take it off your hands! But college expenses are killing me right now... Unless you'd be interested in a SWFA SSALT mount or a DPMS LoPro stripped upper.

I've used that 3-9 in a Spuhr ISMS at 1.2" roughly on an LR308. Cheek weld is just right, can't go lower. You may regret 1" ring height.
No experience with the POF but they have a taller rail, don't they? He may very well get away with 1". I'd mock it up with a ruler to test first.

Now on a standard AR, no way unless you have some VERY high/thin cheek bones. A low NF Unimount at 1.125" is the lowest I can go, and I have high cheek bones.

Got the AD-Recon-SL today and I have to say I am very impressed with it! Isn't the best cheek weld in the world but it was better than I was expecting! I'm loving it so far money well spent!
