Rifle Scopes SWFA 5-20 Reticle

The SWFA 5-20 SS has a reticle with little diamonds at one mil intervals on the crosshairs. The width and height have about a 1:1.5 ratio or 1.5:1 depending on whether on the horizontal or vertical axis.

Can anyone tell me for sure what angle is subtended by each axis of these diamonds? Apart from having a variety of angles etched into the reticle, do they have a practical application?

Short side = .2mils

Longs side = .3mils


They just help to give another point of reference when holding or measuring a target. For example, if you have to hold off .9 or 1.1 mils, you can use the edge of the diamond as a distinct aiming point. When measuring an object, you can use the inside edge of a diamond to the next inside edge of a diamond to get .8 mils. Be creative.

Thanks a lot. SWFA sent me a digital copy of the reticle legend so that I could print it on the back of a ballistics dope sheet. The diamonds were not dimensioned and the resolution of the image isn't good enough to measure it out. .2 and .3 was what I assumed, but could not be certain.
