Rifle Scopes SWFA SS 16x or Falcon Menace 4x-14

Re: SWFA SS 16x or Falcon Menace 4x-14

The Falcon has a spotty rep on the internet. I've heard good and bad.

The SS I have experience with. They're pretty good, and if you have issues, they're in Texas, and will replace/fix anything that comes up.

Between those two, I would go with the SS. I would not go for 16x, however. Not if the ranges are just 100-200. Just my opinion.

Two very different optics.

Falcon gives you FFP and variable power if you want to experiment with the concept. Glass is surprisingly good. Several very good reticles to choose from. Limited lifetime warranty.

SS is fixed (focal plane doesn't matter), build quality is very good, glass is decent. Excellent warranty and they hold their value very well. Also allows you to explore the concept of matching reticle and adjustments (as does the Falcon).

I prefer the utility if a variable, but a fixed power can serve you well. I'd go with a 12 power vice a 16 for the short ranges you are looking at.

I have a SS in 16X on a 22 trainer. I like the construction and quality, but the eye box is picky as hell. The glass is dim as well. I would take the suggestion of a 12x or even better the 10x.
