So I got to the range today to zero my new SWFA SS 5-20. The following are just a few observations based on the 20 or so rounds I put through it this afternoon.
The knobs are maybe a bit gnarly, but that's personal. I'm used to cranking on knurled knobs, these are firm and they do have a bite. They should definitely not be a problem with gloves.
At 200 yds and 20X it was very clear, though I don't have another 5-20X range to compare to, my other two scopes are a NF 32BR and a Bushy 3-12.
At 20X for what was doing the reticle seemed thick, I would have preferred a floating center dot, but then again I spend most of my time looking through a 36X with an NP-2DD so it's what I'm used to. That's a personal thing, and and in saying that keep in mind I was aiming small shooting at half inch dots at 200 yds. .
I'm surprised at how much I do like the reticle. In zeroing the scope I found it very easy to mil distances from the POI to the POA to 0.1 mil. I took some time to look over the subtension card before I went to shoot, the .2/.3 demin on the diamonds is very useful.
I like the scope so far.
