Swivel Stud Picatinny Rail Adapter

I have done some searching in this forum and while I have found a few posts regarding this item, I cannot seem to find any definitive good or bad reviews. Does anyone have any experience with this product and if so, can you provide some feedback. It would be appreciated. I had no intentions of buying an Atlas bi-pod however, thanks to Black Friday and SWFA, I have one coming. I have a Manners T4A stock and should I like this bi-pod, I would be interested in sending it back to them to have the atlas rail installed. I just don't want to go through the process for no reason and this could give me an opportunity to see how I like it. I do need something that fits right and is secure so I can get a good idea of how it works. I figure ~$20 is a good price to see how I like the bi-pod.

i bought the blackhawk adapter to put on a SAKO 85 varmint and it works great. and its nice because it gives you another swivel stud on the front to make up for the one used in the conversion.

Go ahead and get the seekins rail if you use traditional sling swivels. SWFA Mounts, Rings and Bases Seekins Precision Mounts Seekins Precision Sling Rail Systems
I just put one on my HS stock and it's awesome. If you use a sling with flush cups I have an Atlas rail (I guess it's atlas anyway, no markings) with a flush cup hole I'd sell ya, haven't listed it yet, just swapped them out last night

Worst case you'll have an extra swivel on your stock, if you decide you want to remove it later.

I have the same one and been using it for 6 months now without any issues. Pretty solid on the FN SPR and atlas bipod.

I like the Seekins rail and that is the route I will go if I decide I like the bi-pod. I currently use a Harris bi-pod and have two QD non rotating studs on the forearm of the stock. Problem that I have is I cannot fix the Seekins rail to the stock via the swivel studs since I got two QD studs instead of the screw in type. So, unless i am missing something, I believe my only option is to send my stock back to Manners and have them install the rail or use this adapter. I am sure I could have someone else do it but if I were to go that rout, I would only have Manners do the work. I don't think I would want to keep the adapter since the rail is low profile when installed to the stock.

I am glad to see some have installed this adapter and have had success. My biggest concern was that it is not a 1913 rail. I was worried that I would not be able to secure the QD mount on the Atlas bi-pod to the adapter. Seems like it may not be a problem.

Just get Manners to install the rail. Even if you go back to the Harris, you should use a QD rail adaptor for the bipod. It allows for quick on and off and makes the bipod easy to use I more than one rifle.

Here's my Seekins rail with an Atlas. If I'm reading your post correctly, you have no swivel studs, only flush cups, right? If so the blackhawk one won't work either, it goes over a standard swivel stud

You are correct, I do not have any swivel studs, only flush cups. After a lot of looking, I found a few pics of a weaver and blackhawk mount which were said to have been used on a flush cup QD swivel stud but I honestly may have not seen it correctly. Originally, I did find a link for an adapter that specifically identified QD swivel but it was from a UK company and offense to anyone reading this, but I do not buy online from overseas. I am pretty particular with domestic sites. As I looked, it appeared to be the same so I figured it may be an application that would work. I am leaning toward sending the stock back to Manners however I waited 6 months and have only been able to shoot it once since I got it back. I just hate to have to wait some more. Figured I would give this a try for a short period of time to see if I liked the Atlas Bi-pod and to also buy a little time to enjoy the rifle. It was my mistake originally and I wish I had them install it to begin with.

So you were planning on not running a bipod at all? No swivel stud? Seems strange to have two flush cups on the bottom, that's what has me wondering. Could you post a picture of the forend of your stock?

No, I have a bi-pod on it. I put the Harris on the QD Stud. Here is a pic of the rifle. I will edit with a pic of just the forend in a few. I have to go and take one.

The QD stud for the bi-pod is a rotating stud. The rest are non-swivel studs.

I apologize... I went back to see where I messed up my explanation and I found it. I meant to say, I do not have fixed swivel studs. I have flush cups with QD swivel studs. I apologize for the screw up.

Just in case anyone was wondering, which I'm sure no one really was, this product will not work on flush cups with QD mounts. It will only work with swivel studs. I received the adapter today and tried it on both my Manners stock with QD studs and the factory savage stock. The QD studs are too tall and will not allow the adapter to draw tight to the Manners stock. It works great on the factory stock.

I should have not had flush cups installed on the forearm. Had I had the swivel studs instead, I could have installed the rail myself.

I was afraid of that. You could install a single swivel stud between the two flush cups to attach this to, it'll let you try it, then if you want to stay with the picatinny rail just have the atlas or seekins installed

The cost of getting the rail installed by GA Precision on my Manners stock would have been $100.00.

I did this last night and I spent only 10 minutes doing the installation myself. The key is the proper counter bore chuck. Here is a link for where to get this: COUNTERBORES - SPOTFACERS ATI AT488C series counterbores ATI488C ATI tools | Spenro.com . It will be about $45 with shipping to get both the counter bore and the pilot. I used a 3/16 inch pilot and then when I had the holes bored out, I then enlarged the hole that goes to the mount to 1/4 inch. I then used the BT1517 Rail mounting fastener set for $5.00: Accessories: BT1517 – Rail Mounting Fastener Set from Accu-Shot Product Catalog – Monopods – Bipods - Accessories .

This is very easy to do and the only other item you need is a portable drill. You will save time and money doing this yourself. If you have any other questions, let me know. You need to drop the Harris and get the best bipod out there. Once you try the Atlas on your rifle, you will wonder why you wasted your shots and time with a Harris.

Thank you for posting this information. I don't want to come off like I have no ability. I am a gear head and have done a lot with my old vehicles. I am not as confident with my ability to mess with a $1K stock. My biggest issue is the placement of the rail. As you can see in the pictures above, I have two flush cups and I am not exactly sure where I should install a rail. I would have to cover up one of the studs which I don't guess is a problem, I am just not sure about tackling this yet. I installed that mount on a factory stock and it works great. I am going to try one other thing first and if it fails, I will be doing this. I am thankful for the links though. They will be a huge help as I will be able to get the right parts to complete this job. I have a drill press and portable drill etc... so I think this is possible. I just need to go slow and take my time.

I hear what you are saying Ratrod. Honestly, I cannot see the use for 3 flush cup mounting points at the fore end of the stock. You can totally cover the front with a 3.35 inch or a 4 inch rail. I am sure you can do it.

I honestly had no idea why I did the flush cups on the fore end of the stock. I wasn't thinking and it was my first custom stock. I guess I just liked the idea of being able to remove them. It was a rookie mistake. I am looking at doing the rail though and I think I can do it. I appreciate the vote of confidence.

Thank you sir! I am pretty proud of it. It isn't very big but it turned out great. Its my 60 sqft room that has everything in it I need. I put that computer monitor up so I could research the things I need to when reloading etc... and I also have a flat screen over on the wall to the right of the picture. Hung a few mounts in there and its like home! I went the route of buy once cry once but I also bought a few of the tings I needed to be able to do it manually so I could learn and understand why things are the way they are. I'm learning. Haha. Now if there were only about 8 more hours in the day.
