Hi guys,
Having issues keeping the T1000 secured to my target. I just replaced new velcro on
my gong. I use 2, old eyes and helps see at a mile +.
After a half dozen hits, they both come off. Anyone else having the same problem and
does anyone have a fix for this?
Thanks.
Mark

Make sure the temp is over 70 degrees . Heat helps the glue to set.
Heat the plate with a hair dryer or heat gun. Oh and clean metal with alcohol

Your post is good information for applying the velcro to the target but I think the OP is eluding to the indicator base coming loose from the velcro attached to the target. I, and other shooters I know, have had the same issues which prompted a call to MagnetoSpeed. Their reply was to keep the velcro clean and free of debris, both on the loop attached to the target and hook used on the base. Also, you need to apply the base to the target with a slight circular scrubbing motion to help engage the hook and loop.

I use spacers between my targets when stacking in the truck so the target velcro (loop) doesn't get compressed and I clean it fairly well but they still have a tendency to loosen. I'm going to take a dog "slicker" brush and vacuum to the loop and see if I can get a deeper clean to help improve the "grip".

Sorry when he said both fell off i took it as the velcro and the target .
I brush the velcro on mine with a small wire brush to keep the tuft raised.
I also stack mine on the face side and not the velcro side like you

Thanks guys for replying. I'll try roughing up the velcro with a brush and see if that helps.

It was 26* in the morning when we stated.
They stayed on for about 6 or so hits. So I'm sure the low Temps didn't help.

So I see this commercial for 'Alien Tape" last night on some obscure channel. Says it will hold 17 lbs. on a wall.
We shall see. I'll try it out and get back with you guys.
In the meantime, feel free to post other fixes for this problem if you have any.

If it's the adhesive on the back of the velcro that is failing, you might try sanding and cleaning the plate/T1000 with alcohol before applying the velcro. If possible, this should be done in a warm environment.

Another option would be to use a cold weather epoxy on the back of the velcro. But this may lead to other problems if you want to remove the velcro.

Have tried any of the supposed "industrial" velcro?

You might consider Velcro ALPHA-LOK:
VELCRO® Brand ALFA-LOK® fasteners have been developed for use in a wide range of applications from solar panels, signage and exhibition stands to fixing the interior in trains, cars or busses.

Thanks for the info Tono. The velcro that has been affixed to the metal plate is staying on very good. The problem is the actual T1000's plastic base, which has the "male" section, gets knocked off the target/velcro. So I purchased some so called industrial 15 lb. velcro. It doesn't do any better. They keep flying off the plate.
I will check out the two links you've included. Thanks for taking time to post and the links.
