I see the T1X rifle advertised in the walnut stock as a " Hunter " model. Anybody got one or laid eyes on one ?
I am really curious as to what the wood looks like.

This may or may not help you…

I read that the T1X wood stock is actually beech and not walnut. To be honest I have never actually understood why people prefer walnut over other wood but I’m sure I can simply google that.

With that said, these are three T3X hunter stocks, which are supposed to be walnut, as opposed to beech.

This is my T1X dropped into the lightest of the stocks.

How do I buy a TX 3 Stock ? Does it drop right in ?
Other than having to open up the magazine well ever so slightly, it drops right in. There are videos online of people doing this (Midwest precision and pursuit of accuracy I think talk about it) and other discussions on forums like rimfire central and accurate shooter.

As for buying it, some websites sell them but they are pretty pricey. And on eBay, I think they go usually around $300… Again pretty pricey. I picked up all three of these from various forums for anywhere between $200 to $225… Still expensive in my eyes, but I can’t help but prefer wood.

I opened up a T3X chassis to get my T1X into it and it was pretty easy. The magwell needed to be about 0.040 wider. Not sure if the stocks would need as much widening or not since I started with an aftermarket chassis.

That said, Midway lists it as a walnut stock and I would hope they have correct info.

A couple of follow up photos since I was asked in a private message and I figured others might care.

A little bit of sanding is needed, otherwise it drops right in.

Please see the attached photos. The photos with all three stocks is as follows from left to right; 1) a router was used to widen the opening, 2) completely stock, and 3) was simply sanded using sand paper. The action fits into 1 and 3 but not 2. It just needs opened up ever so slightly.

I plan on eventually having all three host T1X’s for my children. My next steps are putting in pillars and bedding all three stocks.

I suspect the wood is beech, as well. The factory picture certainly does not show walnut. I just don’t see charging that much extra for a beech wood stock.
