TAB shooting mat and gear sling

I carried a TAB mat in my call out kit for the last few years during my time on SWAT. Did not use it in the field often, but its small enough to carry in the three day pack. The two ranges where I shoot the most list sand burs as the main ingredient in the soil. They would poke through the single layer part of the TAB mat. It stayed in the pack and I have a thicker mat I use on the range.

i think if you do just a little research here on the Hide, you will find that all of the TAB products are quality and functional. And yes, Triad is a TAB gear vendor.

I carry the TAB mat in my snipery stuff. I't small enough to stow in my bag. It's not thick and comfy, but it covers sticker, gravel and hot roofs. It's invaluable for that if you are going to be in a static position for awhile. All of our sniper team members have one, and I have no complaints. It's not a competition mat - it's small and basic. I like it.

Out of curiosity, what mat do you use? I know a lot of guys swear buy the Midway branded ones for range use. I'm really just looking for something to keep the dirt off and some padding up front.

Also yeah, I realized Triad sold TAB stuff after poking around your site from a post you made on my rear bag question. I've heard lots of good things about you guys around here.

Im off of SWAT now, so I dont have to worry about size so much anymore. When its cold enough to hunt around here, I generally have enough clothing on not to worry about a mat if I end up having to should off of the ground. Just not down long enough to worry about it.

Ive been through my share of GI sleeping pads, and cheap imported mats. I will never have another shooting mat(TAB, Triad or otherwise) with plastic buckles. I think I have three mats around with one or both of the straps that have broken side release buckles. No matter how hard I try to avoid them, the buckles always get stepped on and break. TAB mat with metal D-Rings or Triad with metal hooks from here on out.

For trips to the range/farm to shoot, I now use the Triad Mat because its padded.

It is more comfortable than the TAB(hey its padded), but if size is an issue its twice the size of TAB and weighs 2.5 lbs vs. 1.5lbs of TAB. Working out of the trunk at range, or if the hike is short, I'll stick to the Triad mat. Any time where size and weight are at an absolute premium, TAB still gets my vote.

Rumor has it their slings are good stuff too.

They offer several models to choose from. Rifles Only carries even more TAB sling options than Triad does.

Ideally I'd like something that I can use both at the range and for hunting. It would be nice if I had a friend with both so I could try them, but sadly that's not possible. Both the Triad and TAB mat look good, I'll have to give it some though, maybe some others will weigh in.

I have a TAB mat I use for general shooting and hunting here in Az. I have broken a few plastic buckles on gear, usually stepping on them. The metal rings are the way to go in that regard, I used some 3m tape to keep them from contacting each other and ringing like tuning forks. The TAB I have gets used 75% as a mat and 25% as a shade cover, light weight and goes with me in my dedicated long range shooting pack.

The TAB sling is great and highly recommended.

The TAB matis tiny. I carry it in my pack for LR shooting where I'm going to be hiking. For the range, I use a much cheaper and or comfortable Midway mat.

Don't know about a discount but if you want to buy quality products from a reputable vendor, Triad is hard to beat. Have never had a bad word to say about any of the orders I have placed with them, and have called with questions several times and have never been disappointed. The prices the have on the website are definitely reasonable. Buy from them with confidence.

Edit to add I use the Tab gear mat and sling as well and echo what was said above about both. Just got one of the Rapid adjust slings and my initial impression on it is excellent. Previous to that I used the standard Tab sling and was happy with it as well. I do think I will prefer the easy adjustment on the Rapid Adjust, but time will tell.

A quick google search indicates no but still looks to be good prices. Plus they don't change me a tax like Rifles Only seems to (even though I'm not in TX). I'll probably order in the next few days, when I get home from vacation.

I use a TAB mat and love it. Granted, I carry a very thin piece of rubber same size as the TAB that's both light, water proof, oil resistant, etc as a base layer that folds neatly in my bag and very light. My range consists of concrete, sand, grass, or gravel and this combo has seved me well all season long.

Should say I love that Triad shooting mat, glad I went that route. Hasn't gotten much heavy use, but have shot it off rocky ground and wasn't too uncomfortable (can prone really ever be comfy?). Should also add that Triad is a great vender and have bought many things from them since. A+ for them. Even ended up replacing my old stock pack with the Triad large, which is a better fit on my rifle.
