I spoke with Mike the other day. What a solid and great guy. Mike, I have one question which might be good for the open forum.

When choosing between going with a custom action vs. what you do to the Remington action, what would I gain by going with a custom action over what you do? Is there any benefit of going custom or is your action actually going to be better if not just as good?

Good God I need to start saving up...………...

Yep, These are the "style" of rifles I prefer....receiver, barrel, "minimalist" furniture to provide link between shooter and pew parts.

Pure rifle executed with attention to detail, Beautiful.

The baby shit yellow/green birdsong even makes my heart flutter.

Guy builds rifles that work and to the customers specs........why comment on which receiver is better if the end result is when built correctly they both work.

Im sure he has his own preference but that is not what is being asked.

Im a dick I spoke for someone else....and I apologize.

I am simply trying to ask him that if I buy a rifle from him if I gain anything by using a custom action (which costs more) vs. the action he prepares. I am talking about his rifles. I am not being difficult. Instead, I just want to know if the additional cost of a custom action on his rifles even makes sense.

This is based on my experience - I own two TacOps rifles, a Lima 51 308 on Mike's Rem 700 that he reworks to his standards, and an Xray 51 6.5cm on a Surgeon 591. They both shoot the same - which is awesome, plain and simple.

I chose to have the Xray built on a Surgeon because I like Surgeon actions, and wanted my second TacOps to be slightly different. While it was my choice, Mike and I spoke about it first because his input was important to me. And my assumption is Mike reworked it too, in order to meet his specs. Did I gain anything extra over the Lima with the 700? I don't see it except for how it looks on the rifle (which is just cool). They both just work and shoot. Besides when Mike is done working his magic on the Rem 700 action, it's a custom at that point anyways.

If you're thinking about a TacOps rifle, talk to Mike. Regardless of the action on it, the rifle will shoot.

My problem with TacOps rifles is that I'm thinking about a third...

I wasnt claiming you to be difficult.

I just think his answer is going to be whatever leaves his shop is going to meet his performance spec using the ammo he recommends.

Perhaps one may be harder or easier for him to meet the spec but in the end they will all perform to spec.

Fabulous. I have a 6.5 CM in a J Allen and have another in the closet for some future build.

Question, how do you like the bag rider. Helpful and better than riding on the butt pic rail that most have???

I love the bag rider, it rides on bags very consistently. I think it's a good addition.

JAE chassis are my absolute favorite!
