I went out for some sniper practice and drills today and brought this new one along as well.

Mine is the 20" Green-T rifle. The longer one is 24" Krieger 5R-Obermyer in Naval Special Warfare Green-T and M5 DBM. Both Rifles have McMillan A1-3's with adjustable spacers.

Needless to say both rifles shoot great!

Re: Tac Ops Whiskey-51 (A1-3)

Observations: (after very a short period)

1. DBM: very fast to top off the rifle but a bit cumbersome off of a pack. Not a lot of room between the bipod and the magazine.

2. PH Scope: 5-25 is a fantastic scope. The glass quality puts my NXS and Leupold Mk4's to shame. However, I have too much "bounce" from my own pulse at 25x. 17-20x is spot on.

3. NSW-Green T coating: Blends in very well with both brown and greens in Northern CA.

4. A1-3: I am still a fan of the A1-3. McMillan needs to add an adjustable cheek to this stock for 34mm tube/56mm obj scopes. It takes a lot of iso-foam and 100 mph tape to support the full weight of my head in the correct position. (always cut your buddy's mat)

Beautiful rifles George. But why no NSW Green-T love on the Badger rings on your buddy's rifle? NSW Green-T would really set-off that Premier 5-25X. If they were Mark 4 Highs' I'd offer to trade some LN 34mm NWT Green-T Mark 4 Highs for the uncoated rings + some cash.

Damn that is nice. WHen the hell did rescigno put out a whiskey? He's been holding out on me!!

Re: Tac Ops Whiskey-51 (A1-3)

Thats a beautiful rifle! And the attention to detail is amazing. I am still in shock with mine.... Why did you opt against the texturing? I did the same because the way the A4 feels in my hands, too perfect to mess with!

Re: Tac Ops Whiskey-51 (A1-3)

I went without the texturing mostly for nostalgic reasons. This gift was originally going to be a full M40A1 rebuild for an "older" Marine, but the owner wanted to move on with modern technology. Leaving the stock in the USMC molded in pattern was done for a connection with tradition.

On the other hand, at a recent sniper class I sweat so much I thought the second flood was coming. I am going to add some light texturing to mine in the near future when Mike puts new bottom metal on.
