Tac21 chassis

Thinking about getting a Tac21 chassis for my long action. I want to know if any one can tell me if the magazines for the 300Win mag will feed shorter cartridges like say .308? The reason I ask is I would like to get the bullet out of the case further and still be able to load in the magazine. 208 Amax is what i will be shooting and when it is loaded to mag length it is to deep in the case.

Are you planning on building a 300 win mag or a 308?

Std AI mags and the tac21 chassis (long action) work fine for the 300 win mag with 208 grn Amax's

.308 rifle is what I was thinking. I have a few switch barreled rifles and was thinking about building one on Tac21 chassis. That way if I wanted to I could shoot 308,6.5-06,300RUM and others with out problems.

The Tac-21 is i good platform, most in the $ range are, their nice you can bolt on AR-15 or M4 style grips and stocks. They will as well take the big bull barrels like the condor and all. not a bad way to go, i beilve if you buy the kit from Brownells you get 2 5 rnd mag with it but it will accept any AI style mags i would buy McRees their same price for 5 or 10 rounders, 58.00 last time o ordered a few.

the mags will probably feed 308 but your action will need some help, long action feeding a short ceasings have problems i would go with action that your shooting. lots of times when the round comes clear of the mag and the projectile is not in the chamber it will pop up free and clear. and its not like you can switch a Rem 700 style action out with out tools

Cowboy1978, that's what I needed to know. As per your advice I will get the short action mod. I will just have to shoot 185's then, not the 208's. I have plenty of other 308's to single feed
the longer bullets in.
