Tactical 30-06 bolt action rifle

Re: Tactical 30-06 bolt action rifle

Roscoe is about done with my /06. It is going in a McM A3 carbon edge with Surgeon DBM and a Bartlein fluted barrel 22". Always have preferred the caliber in my hunting gun for longer ranges. Built off of the 700 action from the first gun I bought with my own money 20 years ago. I am going to be shooting 175-185 Bergers. I am just old school....I will always have a good /06 and 1911.

Great thread! As an aside, what are the specs on your Class F?

AG </div></div>

My class F is a Christian Salva Bench Rest 1000 yards with a Lothar Walter 30" twist 8 in 6x47 lapua it's the young sister of this rifle.

I am not very happy with that ammo I am thinking to cut it and make a 6 norma BR out of it.

Re: Tactical 30-06 bolt action rifle

Awesome thread.

Definitely giving me some thoughts betweeen building a 300wm or an '06. Never considered it before, but it is starting to look like for my uses; 75% 200-500, 20% 500-700, 4% 700-800, and maaybe 1% 1000; this might be a better route.

I need to shoot a 300wm with an AICS on it for a better perspective though...

Now I'm using the 155 gr Scenar and RL-15. I haven't worked up to see what a max load is in my rifle, but I've gotten to 3,124 fps w/o any pressure signs at all.</div></div>See if your 12-twist will stabilize the JLK 180 VLD LBT's (.580BC). If it will, drive them to 2800fps and and run the numbers.

Unless you *need* the energy, even 30-06 is overkill if this is indicative of your needs. .260 Rem will shoot 300WM flat and nearly as good in the wind with a LOT less recoil than either the 06 or the WM. And it's still good to 1500 yds. if you do decide to stretch it.

Just a thought.
