its a 22" 260 rem now. did everything you could possibly do to a mauser

MPI tactical stock with karsten cheak rest flush cups and pic rail for bipod
timney trigger
tubbs firing pin and spring
new 2 position side safety
billet bottom metal
action trued and barreled action and bottom metal nitrided
20MOA base
22" benchmark fluted and threaded barrel

BigJoe,

Outstanding job! I have several 'accuracy' Mausers that I wish all looked and worked like this one will for ya. I hate to say it, but I'd thin the herd by 70% if I had one Mauser like yours.

What a great looking stick...reminds me of a restomod muscle car...all the coolness of a vintage with modern shootability.

What scope to plan to top it with?

Looking forward to a range report.

I love what you did with that rifle but looking at the "before" picture I'm compelled to ask... What was the history on that rifle? Was it just a sporterized and scoped Military rifle? Or was it a "commercial" Mauser? Just curious...

it was sporterized years ago and the bluing was almost gone, there was some pitting on the bolt and in the barrel. the scope was a old artillery scope with custom rings made that could sight it in for 1 distance. I just wanted to make something that i could shoot and enjoy as well as pass down to my son with my own personal spin on it. So you get what you see. Plan is to engrave my grandfather and my initials on the bottom metal eventually or something like that and someday my son's.
