Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

Wish we could have made this match. Our 4th guy and our back up 4th guy bailed. Acutally my 4th guy had some MIL obligations come up (gotta love being one of THOSE guys) So I ran bleachers till I puked twice on sat before my work out in honour of those who were there

. It was only about 101 here in Tulsa.Glad to see no one was hurt. Wish we could have made it. We signed up for the team sniper in Sept though.
On a side not I hear you on the bolt rifle thing. Last team match you were supposed to have your pistol on you at all times. I dont know of very many that did. The ladder sounds like a good idea but driving my truck through all the targets would work also. Its finding the line in between those two thats tricky. Great job for those who went.

Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

Thanks for the pics Rick!

And John, although I wasn't refering to you..

Actually the ladder idea was genious. When I saw that in Bill's truck on Wednesday at my house, I thought ( I wonder if those guys are going to use that for the climbs? Surely he dosent drive around with that all the time?).

This is the rule list about "ARs only" I was refering too, but I guess not everyone was aware of it. http://www.tigervalley.com/news/news09-01/tactical_team.html
Ovbiouslly it wasn't that big of a deal or I would have said something when we were hanging out on Sunday. I just didn't bring my AI 300 w/ USO because I didnt think I could use it. Nor did I want to have to use it on every stage.

Interesting info: The average number of hits per man in the A zone of the 200 yard movers was 5 out of 30 shots.

The team with the largest members didn't finish last in the attic/wall climb stage.

Out of 39 possible A zone hits at the pistol wall (~40 yards), the highest scoring team got 13.

Only about 100 points separated the top 5 teams in the final results. No one team dominated every stage, and doing badly on one stage significantly hurt one's standings.

Overall it was a well conceived match. A team had to be competent in long range rifle, long range pistol, teamwork, and stage strategizing to be competitive.

TJ is taking suggestions for next year's stages.

There was 36 possible hits on the Wall stage (9 shots * 4 people). My team got 14 a-zone hits, but we got zero'd out on that stage due to a safety violation on that stage. (team member spun around while clearing pistol pointed at ground, but essentially broke the 180.

Those A-zone hits are tough from that distance, shooting through a port, while a paintball gun is firing back at you, and you are wearing a fogged up paintball mask in 105 degree heat.

:)

Heh heh heh! I wish I had. Couple of em went down like they might not get back up!

Micro: No worries mate! I never saw that description on the TV site. I'm usually a staunch anti-gamer and normally 'run what i brung', but I knew I wasnt gonna be a factor and figured I might as well have a little fun if I was gonna get heat-indiced brain damage in the process.

If I hadta lug that pig thru the whole course, I definately woulda left it in the car!

Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

Here is a cut and paste from the Tiger Valley link.
"All shooters must have both an AR type rifle and pistol with them for the match. One shooter must also have a weapon with optics for shots to 500 yards, and a shotgun must be available for breaching and target engagement."

Maybe I am reading the instructions wrong but what I see is that each team is required to have a precision rifle and a shotgun in addition to four AR's and four pistols.
At least that is the way the Tulsa team saw it.
Guess it is a bit of a difference on how the instructions should be interpreted.
If we ruffled any feathers by doing what we thought was the instructions,
Sorry.

Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

The match was a great time and I want to thank TJ and the Tiger Valley crew for all of the hard work they put into making it a superb match.

The stages were well conceived, well run, and lots of fun.

See everybody next time around.

Off the top of my head here were eight of the nine stages in the order HiCap has the video's.

1. Rescue the hostage and get your food back.
2. Cooper tunnel four man carbine drill.
3. 36 Pistol shots thru openings in a four man relay with paint ball dodging.
4. 90 round Carbine only stage over the short walls and thru the window with all four shooting at once.
5. Pistol four man relay on steel with low light goggles.
6. Thru the attic, over the wall, and thru the window with lots of targets.
7. Kill house with carbine and lots of other pistol and carbine targets.
8. Helicopter rescue with carbine and pistol targets and heavy dummy.
Not shown on the video:
9. Four man squad mover engagement with 120 rounds total from 200 yards in about 90 seconds.

Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

No problem Pete.

The only stage we don't have video of is the last one, but we were just lying on our bellies shooting at movers at 200 yards. No running, crawling, carrying or climbing involved, believe it or not LOL.

Their were of course 4 moving targets per team, but each one was smaller. The largest was full sized IPSC and the smalles was cut to only have A and C zone. Fun stuff.

Re: Tactical team match (4-man)

Per TJ's News Letter:

Tactical Team Match Wrap-Up
--by TJ Pilling
Nineteen four-man teams competed in Tiger Valley's first 4-man tactical team match this past weekend. It followed on the heals of the US National SWAT Championships in Tulsa, which Tiger Valley also ran. The concept for the 4-man event was an experiment, not knowing if the idea would float especially with no prize table. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised at the number of teams that took the challenge to compete.

We had a 114 degree heat index with no wind and no one complained. I had several very knowledgeable people telling me that some of my obstacles were a little over the top, but I didn't want to shortchange those who came for the challenge. Everyone made believers out of me and everyone else who watched. I saw competitors doing challenges I never would have dreamed that they would have attempted much less complete. My hats go off to everyone, we had some true warriors at this event. Thanks for the had work and commitment.

Congratulations to Team JP Rifles of Caughman, Huber, Wong, and Wong for their first place finish. Full match results can be found here.

Final Results are Here:

If anyone took a photo of the individual stage scores, I would like to see them. Thanks!
