I had a BEAT UP 1991A1 that I received as a gift a few years ago from a friend who has since passed away that I recently rebuilt. I probably spent a good $1K on fixing it up, I know I could've probably had something much better than what I'm ending up with but I wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons. My question is now, do I take the series 80 stuff out to get that perfect trigger pull, or leave it be? The trigger is *ok* as of right now but I can't help but feeling as though I'm leaving some potential untapped.

Re: Take out the series 80 crap or leave it be?

I think the series 80 has proven to be reliable , I have one and the fps is still in
I cant really tell the difference in trigger pull between series 70 and 80 but i am not a bulls eye shooter ether .

What is the intended purpose of the pistol ?

I would leave it as is , but I don't have the gun in font of me ..

It wont make a noticeable difference unless somethings wrong. But you can buy a spacer for about 10 bucks or less if you feel it needs to go.

Re: Take out the series 80 crap or leave it be?

Cylinder & Slide shop makes the spacer used when removing the Series 80 parts and they also have a set of series 80 coated parts which are direct replacements designed to improve the trigger pull on the Series 80's

With properly prepped Series 80 safety parts as part of an overall trigger job you can get very good results without removing them.

You don't really need the spacer. You can leave the smaller of the two pieces (the one next to the sear) in place and remove the other along with the plunger in the slide. You would probably benefit more from a new hammer with better geometry.

P.s. try a wooden match stick cut to the width of the sear as a slave pin to help keep all the pieces in place during assembly.

Appreciate the tip, I am going to give this a shot today and see how it goes.
