Ok I dont spend this kind of money often so I want to be positive about the buy. I was going to get a LMT MWS but Larue has a build for $1600 right now.
I was going to get 18 - 20 inch 308 and not shoot past 1k yards with this rig. ( ultimate upper kit )
I want reliability with all ammo and from what I have been reading that might be a deal killer for the Larue.

All help will be appreciated.

They also have them in stock. So this is the time to jump on it.

Larue UU kits are an excellent value.
Read, on the hide, about Larue and you will not get much good feedback.
I have a few with one being the UU in 6.5 grendel. It's boring to shoot at 500.
You're looking at the large frame, I'd go with 6.5 CM or 260Rem.
The UU kits are a great value with quality parts.
I thought the large frame UU with lower was $1400?
If you order it, call in with your order number and get their suppressor for $399.

20" barrel 308 UUK, lower and TranQuilo (provided able to own suppressor in your state) and you'll be doing just fine.
You can add a TranQuilo for really cheap. Lowers are $100.
Heck of a deal.

Thanks guys. 6+ month would blow, who knows China could release something even more lockdownable for Gov to feed off. Did some hunting around on the forum and LMT is looking better even tho its 1k$ more.
I already have a can from SHARK so no need for TranQuilo ( sounds like a confused porn star BTW. )

I ordered a 6.5creed in March and received the upper about 3 weeks later. I’ll be picking up the lower Fri/Sat.

The machining is good on the upper and rail, so no complaints there. The barrel has a bit of slop in the receiver, but I’ll try it out and decide if I need to shim it. Normally I would just shim it from the start, but I’m interested in a before and after evaluation.

I would take a look at the Seekins SP-10, I just picked one up the other day. Range report to follow.

Let me start by saying I am NOT a Larue fan, in fact I really dislike ML. I have owned thousands of dollars in Larue products starting with their first rail system and aimpoint mount way back in the day. They are not the same company today.

With that being said , the UU kits are the best value out there in both the large and small frame AR. I have one in 6.5G and yea it did take like 6 months (That they don't advertise before the sale). Want to say it was around $800. You can't touch anything close for that price. I sold the tranquillo locally for $50 so $750 for a full rifle kit in premium calibers with quality components minus lower...…..smokinig deal.

The large frames are around $1200. Head to head, I would take a MWS with the ability to Quick Change barrels. You may be able to find a used MWS for around $2K then add another $600 or so for a 6.5CM barrel. The Larue MBS is better than the LMT 2 stage. Actually a very good trigger for the money and the best you can buy till you move up tot a G2S.

If money is an issue and you don't mind the wait, Order the Larue. They now offer a mlock rail for the large frame. If money is not an issue, buy whatever, MWS, SR25, ect.

The extra $1200+ you save with the Larue could go towards some nice glass to top it.

where are you buying a large frame LaRue for 1200? with lower, shipping etc it's closer to 1800.

I ordered a 5.56 UU in FDE on 2/20. I received it 4/24. My lower will be at my FFL tomorrow. Not sure what the wait would be for a large frame.

It's similar, or at least was similar.

I ordered multiple uppers and lowers - large and small frame, black and FDE - in early February. The uppers all shipped together one month later. One small frame black lower shipped about six weeks after order; the others lowers shipped about eight weeks after the order date.

Generally speaking, the fit and finish is pretty good considering the modest investment. My LPKs were all missing the magazine catch; annoying, but not a catastrophe. The MBS-2T trigger feels amazing on the bench; if they work well on the range, I'll be ordering several more. Can't comment yet on accuracy since the local ranges are closed and I generally don't blast centerfire in the yard, although that may soon change if the soil ever dries up enough to attempt backstop improvements.

The large frame lower is 299$ chief.

So, the kit is more like 1492 + shipping for the complete rifle. The price increases if you add in 2 extra mags for 99$ and a brake.

$1541 for a 6.5 CM in black with a brake and single mag. Shipping was $7.95 for some uppers and $11.95 for some lowers. This seems like a reasonable deal for a billet large-frame setup that required basic lower assembly.

Seemingly mandatory disclaimer: not a Larue fanboi, and this is my first time purchasing any of their firearms.

How is the Accuracy and reliability with all ammo? Thanks for your input.

Who said you need to use a Larue Lower? Waste of money.

The brake is worthless if you don't use their can and mags are $15 a piece from ASC so...………...

That's the equivalent of paying for clear coat and undercarriage protection on a new car.

Unless you plan on resale. An UU with a blem Stag lower isn’t going to bring much. The LT lowers have even sold for 500+$ by themselves. Obviously that changes now that they will offer them for sale again, but who knows for how long.

You can make 50$ on resale of the mags, ..so...

I’ll stick to my Pmags, but there are benefits to those two options.

I am not a Mark Larue hater. I have plenty of his stuff, but if I were looking for a higher to high end 1000+ yard gas gun, it would be a JP in 6.5. Unfortunately it doubles the budget based on what you have been discussing.

I had a 6.5cm upper and lower kit from him. I was having issues where the bolt would lock back so far on the last round, the mag catch was right in front of the bolt lugs and would require a hammer to smack the bolt release to unwedge it. This was on two or there’s different brand and boxes of factory loads.. hornady, Winchester, and another I can’t remember.

Dealing with customer service was not the best experience I’ve come across. After telling them my issue that involved both upper and lower (just due to the mag catch), they had me send the rifle in and provided a shipping label. I boxed the rifle up and took it to UPS, and they wouldn’t accept the package because the label had a return service request on it. Called CS and they said “we never have an issue with our labels, this should work, try again.” No luck. Instead of sending me a new label corrected to remove that service option.. I had to pay shipping of almost $80 and they said they would reimburse me.

Rifle came back a few weeks later if I remember correctly and there was no mention or list of the issue and how it was corrected. I called to ask if they could tel me and I was told they don’t release that info to the public. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤯 Last I made several follow up calls to get a refund for shipping and as given the run around and never got my money.

With that experience, I sold the rifle locally, unfired after it returned and was done with it. The rifle is built well, but man, those guys are a PITA to work with from my experience. I’m looking at getting the APO Snipers Hide rifle now, but the savings of a LaRue over that would be nice.. but again, that experience. I don’t know what to do.

What ammo were you using with yours?
Also, what size target? I recall you posting a video in the past, but I wasn’t sure if you were going after a small target or an IPSC.

I use my reloads which pretty much mimic the Hornady 130 ELDM's.
Target is torso sized, not sure excactly.
Video, needs your sound on:

And then add another $600 for a 6.5CM barrel.

Big difference between $1300 and $2500+
Slowdown. The larue is not 1300, more like 1700 and no one I know pays 600 for the barrel when they sell here and other places for far less and certainly less than a new rifle. Buying larue over lmt when the pricing isnt that much different is a bonehead move for a multitude of reasons

We already did the Math and if your paying 1700 you are high or have an IQ in the 70 range.

Show me all the new MWS 6.5CM factory barrels for less than $600.......i will wait.

1242.00 Ultimate Upper - now only fits LaRue/M110 lowers
$299.00 Lower

Closer to 1600 than 1700 unless you went for the optional 2 mag upgrade.
Thats without tax so for most states that charge tax, you are at 1700. Cant remember if he includes shipping.

Still, plenty of forums where guys selling hardly used mws and barrels for cheap.

Currently a 308/260/6.5 upper kit is $1192. That is with free assembly, an A2 flash hider and one magazine. Add $99 for two extra mags, $50 for the TranQuilo brake and $399 for the TranQuilo suppressor. The lower is $299.
