Talley Lightweight 2-piece 20moa

Hi, I'm new here and happy to find this forum. I've been happy with my existing Tally Lightweight 2-piece 0-moa scope mounts on a Rem 700. Now a new 30mm scope and would like to go with the Tally 20-moa version of 2-piece mounts. But thinking of the geometry of the things, if the spacing between the 2 pieces varies even slightly from the standard dimension due to screw holes being slightly "off", that will put a twist on the scope tube. Has anyone ever heard of this being an actual problem?

On a Remington 700 the action profile will affect scope alignment much more than screw hole spacing. The rear bridge is never the same height compared to the front and the profile is never level. They almost always are rolled off to the right rear requiring an L shaped shim to level the base/rings.

I'm interested in any feedback on these as well. I just ordered a set for a lighter/budget-er hunting set up with the howa 6mm barreled action Brownells had on clearance.

Dave, is that normally just a Remington problem or is it a ring problem?

It's an action problem. Talley makes good stuff. I haven't mounted any scopes on the RR actions with Talley's so this may or may not apply to them. Older actions were hand polished and the right rear corner was always rolled over to the right and the rear. I mounted a lot of Talley rings and bases and it would take maybe an hour or more using machinists squares and making shims to get the bases/rings in alignment. Once I got the right shim/shims made I would bed the base on the final installation. I figured this out after having numerous customers using Swarovski 6-24's say they couldn't get the windage centered. The rear ring would always be canted to the right a considerable amount. Just something to be aware of. It's always something.
