Tape to add Bulk to a Grip?

Any recommendations on a tape to add bulk to a grip? I'm looking for a softer, rubbery type feel rather than the rougher tapes that almost feel semi abrasive.

For reference, I'm trying to add bulk to an Anarchy Outdoors penguin grip (mounted on a chassis). I considered their emperor grip but looking at the pictures on their site it looks like it primarily adds length compared to the penguin. The length is good I just want a more substantial grip. Something a long the lines of a Bravo chassis grip bulkiness would be ideal.

Thanks in advance.

Few wraps of vet bandage?
This sounds like a good solution. I've never used the material before; is there any issues with durability? I don't mind reapplication but don't want it falling apart on me.

The super resistant electrical tape might do what you want...add bulk with a soft rubbery type feel.

Or vet wrap for a less “adhesive” product.
I wonder if the electrical tape would leave a residue especially after being in the humid heat of Carolina summers? I'd like to avoid that but it's not a huge issue.

Maybe something that is more self adhering would be better? Not sure of a product though.

Try a bicycle inner-tube! You may have to do some pretty good measuring to get the proper size tube.

You could add the bulk you desire with some of the methods mentioned then add the inner-tube over the “bulk”.

Merely cut a “sleeve” of the desired length to cover the grip. Many folks do this on semi-autos.....don’t know if it would work on a revolver grip! It gives a softer feel, and good secure grip.....not sure how it does when wet! memtb

Use the vet wrap or camo form. The camo form is a bit thicker. I wrap several grips and it works well

The issue with using tape with actual adhesive is when it gets worn/hot/sweated up you get the sticky residue. You won’t get that with the self adhesive tape/camo form

Why not use plastidip, ya know the liquid you dip tool handles into to coat them. Basically you could give it the same feel as a pair of pliers and recoat until you got the thickness you wanted.

Thanks guys for the great suggestions! I now have a couple different things to try. I think the tennis racket grip was the exact thing I was thinking of just couldn't remember where I felt it before haha

Bicycle handlebar tape is similar...no adhesive just a tacky, foamy, grip. I would start with vet wrap. You could uses strips to add volume in some areas and then take a wrap to hold it all together. It’s tacky without being sticky and there’s no adhesive to get gummy/make a mess.

Depending on what exactly you are looking for in your grip.

Seen it used on archery bows to customize the grip.

Wow this an interesting solution that I hadn't even thought of. Thanks for bringing it up, I'll have to ponder it.

Not 100% sure if this is up your alley but I just used some of this on my Glock 27 EDC grip -

I originally got it to wrap my scope and have found all sorts of uses for it. It's originally a self-sticking medical bandage tape basically - it sticks to itself (and will allow you to rewrap it a few times and redo it , eventually it will 'wear out' if you keep unwrapping and rewrapping it) - and works quite well - as I said, I got it for my scope, but I messed around with my Glock grip - and it's been on my edc grip for 3+ months now, perfect.

And of course you wind up finding all sorts of uses for the stuff once you have it.

Heretofore referred to as “vet wrap”. As for quality/longevity, my experience has been, big surprise, you get what you pay for. The name brand medical supply brands tend to be way better than the Walmart “compare to” brands.

That’s one reason I always have some duct tape in my pack, you never know what you’re going to need it for. One time at a match, the saddle cheek piece on my McMillan fell down (the tension screw stripped) so I found a couple pebbles about the right size, shoved them under the saddle, and taped it down so they wouldn‘t go anywhere.
