I can't seem to find any reliable source as to whether the Tavor will be US manufactured and sold. Several boards suggest that it will hit the market prior to October - I can't find any websites for any manufacturers. Anyone here with any firm knowledge about this gun?

A tavor would be so cool in the collection, I hope they'll bring the model with the red dot sights that comes on and off with the safety switch.

I emailed Trans Worls Arms LLC (the company rumored to be importing them waaaaaaay back in January) and they got back to me. I asked a few follow-up questions, and asked if I could share the email. If so I'll just copy-and-paste it if anybody is interested. The short version is there are still plans for the Tavor to be imported, assembled, and manufactured here.
I'm also now on the Tavor email list which is kind of cool, and I'm remaining optimistic that it's coming so I am saving up money for one. It is all relatively vague, yet seems positive. I'll just ignore that people have been talking about importing the Tavor since ~2008 (if not longer). I am hopeful though, it seems to have a lot of what I'm looking for.

In case anybody's interested, there is a Tavor Group Buy to get one of the first-runs of the Tavor. The group buy ends on December 9th, 2012 at midnight. I am planning on getting one; they are planning to ship on April 1st, or thereabouts. You just have to sign up, post on there that you want to buy one, then in a couple of weeks they'll email you w/ details (pricing, model options, etc.) and finalize that you actually still want one.

I thought some of you might be interested. Also, here is a link to the four alleged U.S. Tavor models (the U.S. version is called the Tavor SAR, not the TAR-21 like the Israeli and [I believe] the Canadian versions):

It looks like there will be the choice of the Tavor SAR in 16.5" or 18" barrel, in black or in Flat Dark Earth, and flat top in in an "IDF" model with the Meopro-21 Reflex Sight.
It also looks like Copes Distributing started taking orders today for the Tavor.
