Taylor Sheridan - an education in a 1-minute read....

What has happened since the demise of the LP & CD?

We have streaming, which is awesome, but the sound quality is shit compared to ^^^^.

Am I missing something?
Nope - not missing a thang. It's about money. The streamed stuff is compressed to save bandwidth making streaming much more profitable. But compressed music has bits per second losses deemed "ok" by streaming venues.

Same thing happens with theatrical movies. The sound on those streamed movies is horrendous compared to a DVD - no comparison.

That scene wasn't very factual at all. I don't really see an instance where someone would be beating on a pipe wrench like that. That said, it is very possible to cause an explosion with hand tools like that.
Especially without shutting down the whole rig and closing all the valves!

1883 /1923 / landsman are great. Yellowstone was great till the 4 and 5 seasons.

BBT seems like someone you’d want to have a beer with.

But then every time you see him off stage he looks like someone to throw a beer at

We're not running out of water either. Silly rules regarding inter-basin transfers handicap usage where it is needed.

Example - The Tennessee River flows past Chattanooga, TN at a typical rate of about 18 billion gallons per day. The city of Atlanta, about 90 miles south, has a water supply issue that causes contention with Alabama and Florida, resulting in low flows into Appalachicola Bay.

About 1% of that flow would end the issues with Alabama and Florida, and it's water that is already going to the Gulf of Mexico, just a few hundred miles west, and have the additional effect of reducing flood propensities in Nashville and other areas.

And this doesn't even consider the 1.3 quadrillion gallons of water in Lake Michigan.

Major: you haven't seen the pool levels currently on the Tennessee and its lakes across north Alabama and southern Tennessee lately...about 10 feet below normal.... drove thru Decatur, across Wheeler Lake and across Wilson dam at Florence yesterday, turbines on Wilson not operating best i can tell.....west towards Memphis Big Bear creek lowest I have ever seen...and I am 75.....drawing Atlanta water at Chattanooga would destroy navigation parts of the year.....

We don't have the electric infrastructure to run the country 100% at the current demand. Zero possibility that we could do so at triple the demand.

When Doc Brown comes back from the future with Mr. Fusion, electric cars can make sense. Until then, oil will remain king.
Exactly. And this is not to mention the battery issues including, not liking our wyoming cold, mining issues, fire hazards, replacing batteries etc.

Elon is obviously not stupid. And he does not appear to be outrageously greedy. His inventions are open source and he is supporting getting rid of the subsidies for EVs. But his predictions on EVs leaves me wondering wtf?.

What he has done with Space X has been amazing.

The point I was making 😳 is that it was obvious to any one at the time, with half a brain, that CDs were not the destination. It was obvious to me at the time where we were headed.

I didn’t comment on whether you guys “liked” the destination. We have arrived. Please place your trays in the upright position.🤠

Look shiny object over there…….☕

A while back I said fuck streaming! The way I fixed it was to download (buy) the music I want and don't have and also loaded a box load of CDs I've had forever. all onto iTunes at the original definition (big files). Then I patched that to all my computers, phones and tablets. All that stuff now plays on everything, including my big stereo system at home. Great Sound IF you set up all of it right.

In cars with great stereo systems, which I demand, the sound is superb and it's from my iPhone iTunes library (hours and hours of music) which I connect via cable, not Bluetooth. Bluetooth compresses too although less than streaming. I can drive from FL to NC and back without listening any song twice - Huge library

The key to this thing is to make sure that you set ALL iTunes apps on ALL your devices to the maximum for playback decoding, which when set at these settings:

Direct Sound, 192 KHz, and bit sampling to 24 bits - The difference is nothing short of amazing compared to how these devices come setup from the factory.

Basically you are doing your own Streaming to and from you devices at the highest fidelity possible and its quite good!

Be glad to answer questions on this....

Elon is working on a new battery system, ready soon, that will stretch the charge to around 400 miles with less battery weight.

New battery technology would change the equation. In my opinion it would need to be a quantum leap. 400 means what as the battery degrades? 360? Plus you would not want to go all the way down so 320?

The problem with charging is the time it takes. I saw some demonstrate a battery swap technology. Like swapping propane tanks. Drive in and over a machine that removes the battery from the bottom and installs a fully charged on in 60 seconds.

This would be interesting. The battery becomes a transient “core” so you would not need to worry about that 30k replacement charge and in theory the battery supplier would keep batteries fresh and recycle them properly.

No Dominatrices for me! I wouldn't poke her with a feather :ROFLMAO: .
Beth has become a cultural icon to women. The example of a “boss girl” It has really been a bizarre and disturbing thing to witness. What they don’t realize is that her psych-pathology and behaviors play into just about every negative stereotype.

It would be like us thinking the mayhem guy from the Allstate commercials is a role model for the modern male.

Lioness 🦁 s good as well at least the lesbians are attractive women.
Yellowstone was Great, I’m not a fan of how much he ends up in each show but more power to him.

Yeah, I tried really hard not to get sucked into that one when a friend showed me a clip of Billy Bob’s character having a conversation with his daughter about her boyfriend, and I was…well, shocked. And will just leave it at that.

Don’t get me wrong, it was funny as hell, but shocking.

But then in a fit of boredom last weekend I watched an episode…And two hours later had binge watched all available episodes, LoL.😆

Damn good show.
Thats what I just finished doing, signed up to Paramount+ yesterday and just finished binge watching all past episodes a few minutes ago.

The candid father daughter discussions and her parading herself around the house were a little shocking, to use your phrase, but it's a great series. Thornton and Sheridan are a good match.

Taylor Sheridan is accurate on real life nuances, like in the last episode the guy getting crushed by the pipe. If they had pulled him out, yeah, he would have bled out instantly.

I lol'd when the ex wife was saying a blessing over the dinner table and goes off on a tangent and someone looks up and asks "Are we still praying?"

Taylor is such a hypocrite blowhard.

His female characters are all self righteous, hair on fire male bashing closet feminists.

I have an idea, how about showing our young women some upstanding women that aren’t pretending to be insane men while hating them. How about some women that aren’t hyper-sexualized irrational self righteousness c*nts.

His strong men are flawed yes but they generally get their due in the morality play. They are allowed to somewhat come to terms with their shortcomings. Sometimes the even face them head on.

Taylor’s effect on female popular cultural cannot be overstated. Be a bitch, ball busting boss babe.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy’s work, but when he starts talking about what’s happening to our culture, he’s part of the problem, make no mistake.I just can’t believe he’s oblivious to that fact. It is all about money to him. He is Hollywood through and through, pretending to be” ah shucks” one of us….

Oh and yeah smoking is good for you…..🙄

I liked Beth on Yellowstone, my favorite character.

The scene when her assistant came into her office after she had a blowout with some adversary and was so rattled she dropped the serving tray of coffee and Beth yelled at her for being a pussy, fired her on the spot and told her to to teach a yoga class won me over.

Trapped h2s is what killed Terry "Tank" Hannon, one of the hands featured earlier on Black Gold.

This just happened a couple months ago in the Houston area. In the Sulfur unit fitters opened the wrong line that was not isolated killed two and gassed quite a few people with h2s.

I work in a sulfur unit so we talked about it quite a bit.

Surely that mess he has on is for a part in a movie.

Well, you get 11+ million people into the country illegally in 4-years and they all have to drink, shower and flush toilets - just to start with.

Addendum: My water bill for 2 people. including our pool ( which is minimal because we get rain in Florida), is for about 1000 gallons a month. Multiply that by 11 million people in 4-years and the number is:

5,500,000,000 gallons. As in billions of gallons. The equivalent of 735,243,055 cubic feet of water.

So why are we supposedly running out of water? There's one part of the answer.

you have hit on the big problem for this and following centuries. it was said a few years ago that the next wars will be about water not oil. true i think. look at kali and it's water problems-stealing it from other states. we even start to have water probs in fl. draining the rivers to feed the cities. big sugar has been polluting so fl and the glades forever. salt water encroachment, pollution of shallow water along the coast with runoff. big problems that need attention soon.
T. Boone Pickens, legendary oil man, purchased water rights all over western Oklahoma, the panhandle of TX and all along the 287 corridor to DFW. When asked, he said it had nothing to do with oil, instead, drinking water. He figured that water would be worth more than oil in the not distant future.

I do much the same. Recorded all of my CD's at full definition. I continue to purchase music on iTunes and store at full definition. 248 hours 24 minutes of no repeats.

Yeah, strong independent women are doing great things for society! Look at the rock solid youth they are producing! All women should be like Beth.....pfffft! I know, just a TV character..........

A lot of women, even the churchy types, act like that after 40. They do not believe in accountability for how they treat their husbands, and act like they would be better off on their own with their ex paying the bills. I listened to another whine session yesterday from the wife’s friend. They think peri menopause gives them the right to be a total bitch. I tell my wife she can leave anytime. I will not be single for too long after.

Yeah, we ain’t running out of fossil fuels any time soon. They’ll just be harder to get to, but we will find a way. Until the past 20 years or so, the formations they’re fracking now weren’t tapped until the technology (hydraulic fracturing) was invented. We’re always working on figuring out the geology.

Hydraulic fracking has been around since the 50s. My first GF Dad had hundreds of pressure trucks working for him. It was horizontal drilling combined with fracking that opened old fields - and allowed us to exploit thinner formations.

I agree we have a lot of oil but it takes investment to get to it.

All batteries today are based on chemistry which is moving electrons around.

I like the idea of a swap.

We are NOT running out of water.

The Tennessee River flows past Chattanooga, TN at a typical rate of about 18 billion gallons per day.
The Cumberland River flows past Nashville, TN at a rate of about 10 billion gallons per day.
The Ohio River flows past Smithland, KY at a rate of about 130 billion gallons per day.
The Missouri River flows past St Charles, MO at a rate of about 52 billion gallons per day.

All these are tributaries of the Mississippi. We have plenty of water, we just need to use it where it is needed.

I thought 1883 was good until the blonde daughter started fucking and falling in love with every swinging dick that talked to her on the wagon train across the Plains, including a wild Comanche. Bunch of Hollywood bullshit.

In real life, the Comanches would have killed her family, everyone else on the wagon train and if they didn't scalp her they would have kidnapped her and either raped and tortured her to death or made a slave out of her and beat her incessantly until they traded her off to the Apaches or some other savages.

Mel Brookes, the Jewish Indian chief in Blazing Saddles, was more believable.

I hope she enjoys her new life scraping buffalo hides and staying covered in grease, dirt and lice. I also like that tailor shop the Comanche squaws had going on in that teepee where they made her chaps out of Corinthian leather.
