In Single-A ball he'll need more than determination being 3/13 with 5Ks so far, even if two of those hits are HRs. He was 4/27 with 8Ks and only one BB in spring training too so yeah, he has a long ways to go before he'll see the inside of Shea without a ticket.

Your first line is very true.
Your second line is pretty funny, but if it were LITERALLY true (as in, he had a gay Mexican lover), they'd make him their darling and he'd be the greatest athlete who ever played, and their stories would all center on how he hasn't been successful only because of discrimination.
I wonder how many other single A baseball players have hit home runs on their first at bat. My guess it is more than 0. How many of them had the media all abuzz for several days afterward, and- litterally- months before? My bet is 0. Tebow is a minor league ball player and should be getting precisely the amount of coverage that requires- pretty much 0.
