Texas Coast
Semi Funny dove hunt story.

Hunted this past couple of days with some guys down in South Texas. Had a good hunt, got my limit both mornings and whilst cleaning the birds I informed them they had to leave the right wing on the birds or they would get a ticket. They left the right wing on every bird. For those of you that don't know, it makes no difference left or right. My dad and I had a good laugh at their expense.

Just thought I would share in case someone else wants to try that. Surprising how many hunters there that didn't know the laws.

Re: Texas Dove hunting

CA has the same rule. Both times I've been dove hunting in Texas I left a wing on as I was bringing them back into CA and the locals looked at me like I was nuts. Apparently they don't know their own rules.

Or maybe I am just nuts and they knew it?

OT, but I miss the perk of my old job where I went to Austin every month and could squeeze in things like a dove hunt on a trip.

Re: Texas Dove hunting

Gotcha. Dove season just let's me know deer season is close. I hunt maybe twice in a season. My place is all local birds, and when you get ten guys killing 10-15 each, you run out of locals in a hurry.

Re: Texas Dove hunting

I have never left anything like that. All we do is breast them and pack 15 per ziplock, fill with water and freeze. I have never been stopped before, so maybe I am doing something wrong and don't know?
