I am updating an AR 6 Creed Barrel; called Evolved Ballistics and they were able to answer some questions and get a barrel out to me quickly and at a great price. Would suggest giving them a try!

I been considering a Proof barrel for my JP. I hope you will keep us updated on how the barrel performs.
Thanks

I was able to get it put together last night; I didn't realize the gas block was smaller than the JP barrel so had to order a new gas block. Thanks to Rainer Arms for getting me a Superlative gas block ASAP!!! Talked to Proof, suggest some 108 ELD-Ms, going to run the rest of my loaded 107 SMK's out and try some 108s. I will post some results when I get out and shoot it.

Here is a few pics with the updated barrel!

Little difference, the proof did feel a little lighter, but not not a lot. The Proof is a longer barrel and has a very different contour so it is not a great apples to apple comparison. Now, when I compare a 26" Heavy Palma and a 26" Proof Sendero, that is a huge difference.

More than just for the weight, I chose the Proof more for the CAMGAS, +3 gas block, and.... to try one out. I have never had one of Proof's gas gun barrels, but I have heard good things! Hopefully your Grendel shows up soon!!!

Thanks zand. I've also never tried a Proof barrel. I'm hoping their claims around barrel life, rigidity and heat dissipation are true as well as a reasonable reduction in weight. I'm hearing the same thing - the longer the barrel the more savings in weight. Weight savings could be minimal in my case. I could never get those 107/108 class bullet to shoot well in my current 6.5 Grendel. I will revisit them again after my upgrade.

Curious why you chose the 6 over the 6.5? Hopefully you will get decent barrel life with the Proof otherwise it could get expense to stay with them long term.

When I started this project I wanted to shoot out to 1,000 yards, be around 105 for bullet weight, and I wanted a semi-auto. I wanted to do something different; which is not always beneficial as things are less proven and tend to evolve quicker. But that being said, I decided on a 6 CM.

When I did the rebarrel I toyed with the 6.5 CM and running 130 OTMs, but since I have brass, dies, and two other 6.5s in bolt guns I felt to stay with a 6mm. I fingered I could always go to a 6.5 at the next barrel...

Hope to see your 6.5 on here; always a pleasure to see everyone’s projects!

I have an AR10 build that I put on hold so I could finish my Grendel upgrade. In retrospect, glad I did so I can get a chance to see how you make out with the 6 CM. Could be a bad-ass semi for sure!
