The 308. Uggh. and a short-ish story.

You know, I once thought (not too long ago) that the .308 win is dead technology. Until I joined SH. Then I read all this stuff about people getting hits at 1000+. It's no secret that the .308 win bullets suffer from a poor combination of MV and BC. However, I guess a lot of it depends on load development.

As opposed to the .308 as I am, that's the rifle I'm buying (FN SPR a1). My reasoning behind this . . . factory match ammo. Until I start reloading, I just want to get behind a rifle and shoot. I do plan on UPGRADING

it to a 6.5 caliber (6.5 creedmoor or .260 REM, any input?), but the deciding factor of my upcoming purchase. I "need" that M70 action. LoL.

I'm just really excited to start shooting long range. It's been a goal of mine for so long. Now that I have a dependable partner, It's becoming a reality. So I'm sure I'll be on here asking some stupid questions, and some repeat questions, but thank you all very much for being so kind and helpful thus far.

Yep, Southwest is the shit! It sounds to me like you're on the right track, and everyone should have at least one .308! Trigger time is a hell of a lot more important than what caliber you're rocking, what scope you have or whether or not you're decked out in multicam.

Thanks for the recommendation Outlaw, I will for sure keep SW in mind. As a matter of fact I'll Google them now.

And Punisher, my hair's far too short to be a hippy and I definitely don't partake in the same "recreational activities" as they do. LoL.
