Maggie’s The ammunition run is on............

Re: The ammunition run is on............

I bet records are being broken. Was at Cabellas Sunday tons being sold. Online dealers sold out of all the good deals. Yikes prices about to go crazy again. PG

Re: The ammunition run is on............

Just bought 2k small pistol primers at local gun shop. Kid behind the counter said Ahh stockin up before they go to the new primers that only last a year. Is this bullshit guna start again.

Re: The ammunition run is on............

I do love when people stock pile. when the smoke clears you can get good deals from people who need money more than they need a closet full of 22lr and primers

Re: The ammunition run is on............

The majority of shooters go through relatively few rounds per year when compared to some of the shooters on the Hide. If my sons and I go for just a few hours, we can easily shoot 1k rounds of .223. Then you have to add the pistol ammo...

Last time my son did some training, 1k rounds .223, 800+ rounds 9mm. One day.

I've been buying a little more every time I've ordered, because I knew this shit would happen again. With out ammo, our rifles are expensive paperweights.

High end .45 acp ammo is close to $1.00 a round. Good .308 ammo is at least $1.00 a round.

This shit is getting expensive, and I don't think the prices will ever come down. I don't shoot any steel cased ammo, stay away from old surplus from who the fuck knows where/how old, etc.

My boys are getting a new pair of boots and a case of .223 for Christmas, and they better be happy. Shit, I would be happy. I'm thankful that both of them enjoy the shooting sports.

Keep telling yourself that.

Re: The ammunition run is on............

Prices have tempered my shooting a bit. I used to think nothing of going to the range and blowing through 100-200 or so each of 7.62x54r, 8mm mauser, 7.5 Swiss and 308.

Now I'll bring 40-50 rounds of the centerfire stuff and a 500 round box of .22 to last me through my time. Bring half the centerfire stuff back with me more often then not.

I swear I cringe with each $5 bill I shoot down the barrel of my .338 Lapua. The .22 doesn't hurt as bad.

I shoot a lot less too. Where I used to spray down the country side, I now go for slow and precise shooting going for empirical data vs. fun.

Re: The ammunition run is on............

It's practically an investment vehicle at this point. I order FGMM one day, pay x per box, and two days later it's x + $12.50. I've been told that this is typical back-and-forth in pricing in an attempt to deal with market glut. But, when I see a Beretta 86 in a LGS going for $700, and reticketed items everywhere up to 33 to 50% more than what was typical resale, a 57% jump in the price of match-grade .308 doesn't seem that surprising.
