My own 12.5" 6.5 Grendel SBR. Built around another Bartlein barrel turned out by Craddock Precision. The host lower is a 16 year old LMT SBR with my typical Vltor A5 recoil system and vintage Geissele SSA trigger.
I'm using the usual MSTN DLC coated National Match (by Young MFG) bolt carrier, cam pin, plus firing pin, with the addition of a JP 6.5 Grendel bolt. JP uses extractors contoured to the 6.5 G case head, unlike some other manufacturers out there, minimizing the problems with broken extractors.
You'll notice the LaRue Stealth 2.0 billet receiver and 10" forend combo here. Even though I pay retail at LaRue, like everyone else, I do so with the appreciation that the LaRue uppers lock up snugly on just about any and all forged lower you might have for a host. The barrel nut not impinging on the forend is a huge accuracy potential boost, too, I truly believe. The combo is remarkably light in weight, as well. At $399 retail, it doesn't hurt that much.
ThunderBeast cans on a gas gun - I know, I know, they have a LOT of back pressure, but the SLR adjustable gas block goes a long way toward alleviating that. In the end, the extreme light weight, excellent sound suppression, and above all - ACCURACY - make the TB Ultra 7 my choice for this application.
If I told you how Hornady 6.5 Grendel 123 ELD groups with just this little 8X Nightforce NX8 scope out of this 12.5" barrel, you would not believe me. And I would not blame you.
