The best AR trigger?

"Due to the design of the Ambi Bolt Catch/Release, the lower is NOT Compatible with certain triggers that utilize anti-rotation pins that use external screws or plates. We have developed a low head pin to be used with CMC Triggers. Standard GI type triggers, Drop in triggers that use standard pins, and Geissele triggers WILL work with with this lower."
Huh. Well there it is.
To me that reads as "KNS type pins will not work and if your trigger comes with them you'll have to swap them for standard pins" than it does "some triggers just won't work", but again, I may be missing something.
I'm not aware of any triggers that absolutely require the use of external plates.

Figured this is as good a place as any to update my impressions on TriggerTech. I started with their Independence Day Special 3.5 lb Competitive Trigger with flat bow -- it has been a game-changer for me. The first stage feels like the take-up on a finely tuned 1911 as you pull towards the "wall", and then it just takes the slightest amount of pressure to break the shot. Zero overtravel, crisp reset, and it's ready to go again, with the most consistent & clean trigger break I've felt on an AR. It fits the role of my SPR incredibly well, and I've been able to shoot much more consistently than my MBT-2S. Which tells me I probably need more practice to improve my trigger control, but ammo is expensive right now and this trigger makes it so dang easy.

I liked it so much that I picked up the TT Adjustable Curved trigger from Brownells for my 6.5 Creedmoor build, and it's everything I liked about the Competitive -- just better. I adjusted it all the way down to the 2.5 lbs minimum, and it felt too light for anything but benchrest work, so I put it back up around 3.25 lbs where I'm most comfortable.

Whereas the MBT-2S was once my go-to for everything (close enough to Geissele SSA for me, but quite a bit less $$$), it has now been relegated to my "general purpose" rifles, and TriggerTech has become my top choice for precision.

IIRC, CMC requires them

Hey guys, I realize the "best" trigger is dependant on what the use case is for a particular gun. I'm going to be building a precision AR and there are so many great options out there. I've used a CMC trigger and liked it but it never felt like the trigger in some of the precision bolt guns I've used. I suppose an AR trigger will never feel like a great bolt gun trigger but what's the closest option? This will be a range toy, mostly shooting groups and doing a few carbine competitions a year. Some of the options I'm considering:

AR Gold
Hyperfire
Timney
Trigger Tech
I run (almost exclusively) Rise Armament RA-434 triggers in mine. I have a few of the original RA-140 triggers, but they will one-day get swapped out for 434's, as well. Nothing wrong with the 140's, I just prefer the flat vs. curved in my AR's, which is why they would be getting swapped.

Really? ADM is local-ish to me so I see tons of their guns and employees at matches, and they seem to use whatever trigger they want. I've never directly asked them what works so I could be missing something but it seems like that would've come up at some point when I talk to them.
Clayman beat me to it. I have the Geissele SD 3G coming, not the SSP. Im excited about trying the Geissele, but its got ALOT to stack up against the Rise 535. I use single stage since thats what I've always used and I dont think I'm good enough to capitalize on a two stage trigger vs the speed of a single stage

I have a couple of Rise 140's that are flat. That said I've wanted to try the 434 as I think the actual trigger looks cool, especially the silver.

Well, I bought those about 5 years ago when Rise was still a pretty new company. The 140's were $150 triggers back then, and only offered in curved.

If you get a 434, you'll end up selling your 140's. I'll leave it at that. 😏

I’ve been a fan of the Timney triggers for my bolt guns and AR15s, but just put a TriggerTech Diamond in my Aero M5 and wow. Absolutely worth the price.

I have had triggers from JP, Geissele, Timney, AR Gold and I have found that TRIGGER TECH is hands down the Best of all the Triggers I have used. Even though it is a two-stage trigger you would never know because of how smooth it is, it is the Perfect trigger for an AR.
