I would share a pithy response but I need to go clean my 1911.The whole suppressor complicates things has gotta be one of the more fud things I have read on here in a min....
Shoot supressed always

I take exception with this. There is some extraordinary fuckery going on in here.Sounds like usual fuckery going on in here.![]()
The only way to really knock the crud off is to drop the slide on an empty chamber. I heard it here, first.I would share a pithy response but I need to go clean my 1911.

While wearing my cargo pants, of course. The only way to really knock the crud off is to drop the slide on an empty chamber. I heard it here, first.
Otherwise, you'll never make it back from the mailbox alive.
I was resolved to be a responsible member of American society so at 18 years old I went to a gun show (so no "papers") and bought a fighting rifle (Mini 14) and at 21yo a fighting pistol (1911). Call me a FUD. It took almost 4 decades for me to breakdown and buy a suppressor and give up on the old 45 acp.I would share a pithy response but I need to go clean my 1911.

There's no reason to bring cargo pants into this....okWhile wearing my cargo pants, of course.

BDU's... meow. While wearing my cargo pants, of course.

I agree. There's no reason to bring cargo pants into this....ok
BDU's... meow.
@sab567 needs to test one of these
Uhm, what?
What level of complexity?
Well, it started with a bit of a tongue in cheek post about the 'blast deflection' nut APA is selling, which apparently reduces the effectiveness of the brake for recoil reduction by about 1/2 but is nice for the she-men here that are concussion sensitive. Then @BurtG started an argument that people who use brakes have shitty fundamentals then we started arguing about poor heathen brake shooters vs master race suppressor shooters.
Tldr; honestly, I really don't know what the shit is going on in here.![]()
I'll see your BDUs and raise you a fishing vest AND cargo pants!![]()
Physics is a cruel mistressHis video he just released with the final results of testing pretty much confirmed what most figured.
A Fat Bastard Gen 3 when from around 90% to under 60% with the addition of the cone. It dropped from 9/29 to 29/29 (dead last) in recoil reduction once the cone was added.
Never invite the man into your lifeWhy are some of you heathens not shooting suppressed?
I decided that they were worthless after post 1So, on a related note… From a “I want to have an effective brake, but don’t want all the concussion” perspective, can we finally all agree that blast shields are almost entirely worthless. I mean, this “limited edition washer” blocks one baffle and substantially reduces the effectiveness of the fat bastard brake. But, you block all of the baffles with a blast shield and “it’s the best of both worlds?” Give me a fucking brake.
I do see one use for a blast shield. I have this fantasy of building up a 12.5” 6.5 G AR15 with a 15” handguard. It would be shot almost exclusively using a suppressor. But, I’d like to have a blast shield long enough to get the gas exit beyond the handguard on those rare occasions when I might not shoot suppressed. (It seems fairly common for comps that use report reliant shot timers to disallow suppressor use for safety concerns- the ro must be too close to the muzzle for the timer to work…)
