The Fix from Q

I'd love to see pics of a few non hand picked groups.
I mean, this is the internet ... I can shoot 1/4MOA with my G19 until you ask for pics. ;-)

I would really hope that the customer base that is buying these $3000.00 rifles is beyond exaggerating groups. I’d hate to see this turn into the RPR thread.

Ive had the rifle a week. 1st group was .25.
It maintained it at 200.

Im a police officer and with our dept shorthanded I have very little to no time off.

Rifle might really open up past 200 but I doubt it. Im a firearms instructor (full auto, sub guns) shot rifles for 40 years. Killed about every critter I can get tags for but longest shot was 355 yds (I would rather get closer)

Fair enough. We all just want to get a better handle on this still new platform. Any and all data is helpful.
Thanks for what you do.

And yet they shoot the same, so who cares?

If the quality is the same then you’re right. Who cares that is written on it.

But since when has a comparison been done and since this is pretty recent news, since when did the new barrels become vetted by the community as GTG like the original ones were?
I’m being genuine when I ask that not trying to be a smart ass.

Why, because mines been on order for 5 months, is stuck at customs and I’m interested to know the quality of the barrel it’s coming with.

Im nothing near a professional shooter, but have gotten really into groupings. Went out today and shot sub 1/2” 5 round groups with 130grn Norma. She loveeeed it.

How’s the bottle rocket?
Good enough, or would a directional brake like the apa little bastard or something be better? Haven’t heard anything great about it to be honest.

Can’t really compare, as I’ve never had the opportunity to use it. Compared to the cherry bomb, there is a noticeable difference. I’ve personally really appreciated it shooting from unloaded bipod positions. For $80, it’s good enough haha.

For the guys out there with multiple barrels, what you using? barrel blocks? Action block?
For barrel changes? I’m just using their barrel wrench and holding the rifle against the floor or table. It’s only torqued to 40ft-lbs so not a lot of force. I also don’t have any other way to hold it currently so that my only option for now.

I have a polymer sr25 magazine that the action locks into pretty well.

Same general process as Akdodge88 above. I do have a barrel vise now though, so I suppose that's another route.

I appreciate it guys. Now I just have to wait patiently for the barrel nut wrenches to come back in stock

This my last time out. Working on doffeeent loads. THE TOP THREE ROWS are from the fix. The rest are rubbish. I was using Hornady ELD-X with 4350. Forget the powder load, but I believe the last group was 41 grains. What’s everyone else powder load for eld-x? Sorry if someone already ask and I suck cause I didn’t see it.

Thanks mate.
I’ll try it out then until I decide what brake I want to try installed by a gunsmith.

I'm at 42.5 and I think .040 off. Same charge I use with 140 eld in my SRS.

Some more work on my little buttpad mod and it looks 10x. Replaced the nuts with threaded inserts and sprayed it black. It looks better but is a funny contrast of great machine work (Q) and shitty (my drill press done elogated holes). But it works and feels 10x better.

I got a mount question for you guys. Should I treat this rifle like an AR and not push the mount past the front of the receiver, or is the top rail rigid enough that loading a bipod or mounting a heavy clip-on NV won't give me a poi shift if I have the mount forward of it? I'm running a mk5 in a sphur mount wich doesn't allow me to push the optic forward in the rings very much, and it got me wondering how far forward I count mount it without running into any issues.

Kevin is a big picture, marketing kind of guy. He has very smart engineers that do the hands on design work. I'm very fortunate to be associated with Q for the launch of the next generation of bolt gun design. It is a cool little rifle. .

Mr Tooley,

Any comments on the gun after the past year?

Thanks in Advance?

Top rail was designed with clip on NVD in mind. It should work fine

The Alamo in Naples, FL has a 6.5 fix in stock. Fulllllll retail though. It’s just that type of shop. They pop up on gunbroker all the time for a decent price. Picked up a 6.5 with the blue bag (that I guess they no long come with) for $2800 out the door. Haven’t shot it yet. Still trying to figure out what glass to put on it. Bouncing between an ATACR and a Sig Tango6.

I got to handle several versions of the fix in Nashville yesterday. It really is an impressive rifle. I say that without having shot it, but still...

It's a fully adjustable, folding stock, enclosed full length handguard, mag fed rifle with AR like ergonomics...that weighs next to nothing and handles like nothing else. 16" 308 balanced pretty much at the magazine, and 22" 6.5 creedmoor balanced just in front of the magazine. And the 8.6 creedmoor...it's laughably small and light. Even more so for mini fix in 300 blk. My buddy is ordering a 16" 308, so I'll have the chance to shoot one in the future. I have a feeling it will end up on my must have list.
