I agree. Any 308 worth it's salt will shoot 175 GMM rounds sub moa. The gun is more difficult to shoot given it's weight and size. My first couple range sessions I was not to impressed with my groups but as I got use to the gun the groups got smaller and consistent. I'm personally thinking about adding the limbsaver mod to mine just to make more enjoyable to shoot for longer range sessions.

I'm wanting to run mine at local PRS matches so round counts will be inherently higher. I figure between the 260 rem barrel, limbsaver, and adding a vortex razor gen 2 for more weight it will make for a much milder felt recoil.

For sure. I did ask Jurassic Clark, who invented the mod, what his thoughts were after shooting it with the limbsaver and he said his only regret was not doing it sooner and that it made it so much more pleasant to shoot

Dude you’ve got to give this a chance. What I’m saying is there’s a big difference between shooting a 6lb fix and a 21lb Mk13 or even a 14lb AIAX. What you’re trading in weight is an offset to the patience and skill required. It wasn’t really designed to shoot groups but it certainly can be done. I just wonder if people’s expectations aren’t correct.

Now paying for an upgrade and not getting it then being told “is what it is” isn’t right. But you can’t expect a glock 43 to shoot the same as a P226. The 226 is so much more pleasant and EASY to shoot because of its size and weight. That doesn’t mean the glock 43 is a P O S. It means I have to work at it a little. Wouldn’t be fair to blame the Glock for “having lots of recoil” compared to the Sig P226. Make sense? I hate to see you give up on this gun. I have a soft spot for you because you saved me 700 bucks on my Fix haha.

Right I understand you don’t want to use FGMM on game but it’s kind of the standard that places use to measure accuracy. It’s for shooting groups not animals. But there’s a reason Remington core-lokt isn’t used for accuracy testing. No hunting rounds really are. Because you don’t shoot groups on deer (unless your a masochist) but if your gun shoots half MOA wirh FGMM then you can count on it putting your Accubond Nosler hunting bullet right where you want it to be.

I get the feeling you’re expecting .25 MOA from Hunting ammo cause the fix is a hunting rifle but that’s not going to happen. There’s a reason they accuracy test with match ammo not hunting ammo. I worry people are judging this rifle off an impossible standard. I’ve heard “they should have an accuracy guarantee” and “Christensen and fierce have 1/3 MOA guarantee” well yes that is true but they didn’t shoot those test targets with hunting ammo.

An accuracy requirement for an intended use- necessarily- includes the ammunition used for that task. If a gun fails to produce an acceptable level of accuracy with ammunition suitable to the task, the gun is not suitable to the task. A hunting rifle that fails to deliver acceptable accuracy with hunting ammunition is unacceptable to the task. That said, it should not be terribly difficult to hand load some hunting ammunition that meets the accuracy requirements.

Showing that a gun gives acceptable accuracy with match ammunition only says that the gun shoots that ammunition well. It does not say that it will put a hunting bullet “right where you want it to be...”

If i were a student that dropped $3000+ on a hunting rifle, wait, full stop. WTF over!? I remember being a student and at no time did I have a spare $3000 to drop on a hunting rifle. If I had, no way would I have bought a hunting rifle. Anyway, if I had done that, I’d be pissed with 2 moa groups. I hand load because I understand that factory hunting offerings can be inconsistent, and I cannot buy match level accuracy in hunting ammunition.

I say all of the above to say that a rifle that only shoots fgmm well may be accurate, but it is not a hunting rifle.

Mostly scratching my head and wasting ammo.

Things have gotten better though and I’m feeling a lot more optimistic after my last range session. It’s not an easy rifle to shoot and I suspect thats what will be my end verdict. But I think it’s capable of good accuracy, just requires a lot more concentration and consistency on my part to obtain it than other rifles.

Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals.

The recoil and how much muzzle rise it has is something I’ve had to get used to, coming from 5.56 carbines which have no recoil there’s a lot of resetting between shots and that hasn’t helped the learning curve.
The bottle rocket muzzle brake has helped a lot, so I’d recommend the guys finding the muzzle rise and recoil annoying to try it. The buttpad is thin and narrow and is uncomfortable enough without even shooting the rifle but with the brake I have no issue shooting it all day (just need to shoulder it properly). I’ve shot 600 rounds in the last 2 weeks while I’ve been on holidays. So lots of practice and experimenting. I’ll be getting the wider buttpad that’s coming out this year soon as it’s dropped. Should make the recoil a non issue when it’s not shouldered properly and I’m moving around shooting off of barricades etc.

I’ve tried 8 different types of ammo so far and PPU Rifle Line HPBT 168gr has been giving me 3 round 1 inch groups or just under (when I’m performing) and is the same price as the cheapest ammo at my local (all the 150gr SP and 147gr bulk junk ammo) but hot enough and has a high enough BC to get me to 1000m before transonic so I’m going to settle on this for my practice ammo. Which I’m thinking is best case scenario for my barrel from practice ammo.

FGMM 175s have never shot anything but sub MOA for me (though not in a fix). I wonder if the 308 being light weight is showing people’s flaws and that’s why they are unhappy with the groups. Let’s face it, some rifles are easier to GROUP than others. If anyone is getting less than MOA with 175 FGMM id be willing to wager it’s not the ammo.

Oh yeah, this rifle in 308 let me know I was all kinds of wrong in how I did things because it is so light. It's a good thing because without it i would never have known what i needed to work on unless i went to a class or something.

With factory Lapua 175 Scenar L ammo the recoil was painful, I had bruises over bruises because I wouldn't stop shooting it. FGMM and Federal hunting ammo is like shooting an AR15.

Even still, just shoot it. The 6.5 setup is heavier to begin with AND a lighter recoiling cartridge. They are still relatively hard to find 'in stock' overall, so I can't see that you'd lose much more if it has 100 rounds through it vs unfired. By selling it as a consumer most people are going to have a hard time trusting it as 'unfired' to begin with anyway.

Don't forget you're seeing a small sample of folks who are having accuracy issues - there are probably plenty of dudes out there happy as a clam shooting the thing that aren't gushing about it on the interwebs - that's how reviewing typically goes anyway. I haven't clicked back through, but there really are probably only like 5 separate folks here complaining about .308, and I don't think I've seen any complaints about 6.5 accuracy on this entire 43 page thread.

If I wasn't running a trash panda on mine, I would do the same. The cherry bomb is not much of a muzzle brake. Works great if you are going to suppress but beyond that, their are much better muzzle brakes out there then it.

I'm not sure it is much of anything. Its not like the ports are directional or it has any baffles as far as I can see. I think it is honestly just a mount for their cans. Could be wrong tho

This. A very small sample and half of them haven’t even shot their rifles anyway. Many many people happy with their rifles. I’m not trying to cause an argument with anyone. I think people have high expectations for a $3K rifle. I know I do and I can get a sub-moa rifle at a much cheaper price. Hell my Tikka shoots about the same and I only paid $1500 for it. Granted, its a heavier gun but I'm not carrying it while waiting for a target.

It’s got no felt recoil mitigation at all. Just a well designed mount for the suppressors. Which is fine just got to understand what it is or you might be severely disappointed.

I completely agree and I will relax my standards due to the size and weight but for 3k I am only going to relax them so much. I'm sure if you got your proof barrel back after paying what I'm sure is close to 1k for it (once everything is said and done) and it was shooting 1.5-2moa, reminding you of your weight savings and reduction in OAL isn't going to fly. I just don't like being told that I shouldn't expect ammo that has shot well for me out of multiple far less expensive rifles to work well in this one.

I know you have prob seen this but i'll post it here too. Below is a 5 round group with 143gr 6.5 Hornady Precision Hunter (not a match round) out of an $850 rifle. This isn't really an outlier, I'd say it is a little below average but not by much (avg right around .4"-.5" center to center).

This is relatively cheap American Gunner out of the same rifle (this is an average group):

I've put 4 different quality factory loads through that rifle and I have never shot over 1moa with it. So I am trying to be reasonable when I ask for 1 round other than FGMM to shoot around 0.8" at 100.

I do want to emphasize that I haven't shot my Fix so don't make any judgement based off of my concerns... I am just trying to make sense of what I am seeing here on the internetz. I have 3 factory match loads and 3 factory hunting loads (may go get more), all of which I have shot successfully out of other rifles, and when i get my rifle back, I will take it out alongside a cheap ass Rem 700 that I have zero experience behind and will shoot twelve 5 round groups, alternating shots between the two rifles, and see what happens. Then I will give you my opinion on what this rifle is, rather than y'all just having to hear what I think it should be.

I have a 20inch BT barreled 6.5 creed Fix if anyone is interested. I believe this is an earlier model. Shoots lights out no damage to brass, has 130 rounds on the rifle and is in immaculate condition. Barrel clearly marked BT 6.5. Rifle has the blue force gear case and all. PM if interested

Nah I’ve never seen one. But I had all the weird colours and the blue stuff cerakoted so it’s black or dark grey. Looks a lot better.
I want to dip the handguard, receiver and buttstock in multicam but nobody I’ve found wants to try it.
They all think it’ll be too hard and here in Australia we don’t have numerous places that do epic multicam cerakote etc so I think I’ll Lee it how it is until maybe I dip it myself.

I have yet to shoot my Q barrel 6.5 as i'm waiting on my scope still but I want an 18" Proof CF 6.5 barrel as I should be getting the stamp for my Trash Panda soon and want to save a bit of length. Do you have the part number for the Proof barrel? I'm only seeing 20"+ on their website.

It's just a dual chamber brake that screws onto the cherry bomb.
I only tried it because it was going to cost a lot more money to buy the taper adapter and then get a regular muzzle brake for it and it's turned out great. It's actually quite effective and has tamed the felt recoil a good amount. I don't believe it would have the same extreme recoil and muzzle rise mitigation that the top brakes would but it's close enough that I've completely moved on.
Screws on hand tight like their suppressors and the taper locks it on. Simple.
I was surprised because I expected it to be as useless as the cherry bomb but it's not at all.
It obviously has typical brake downsides like being crazy loud, throwing huge fireballs and because it's ports aren't horizontal it can kick up debris from the prone but that's a non issue for me because I can't shoot that way, the grass is too long here.

I would recommend it provided someone is aware of said downsides.

It's just a dual chamber brake that screws onto the cherry bomb.

Screws on hand tight like their suppressors and the taper locks it on. Simple.
I was surprised because I expected it to be as useless as the cherry bomb but it's not at all.

That's good to hear - I was kind of skeptical about it since their factory 'brake' does almost nothing to mitigate recoil - I wasn't expecting an Xzibit brake to help.. ("yo dawg, I heard you like brakes.... so we put a brake on your brake!")

How does the bottle rocket thing work? I bought the taper adaptor and was planning on running a surefire or lantac brake on it but if that works just as well may give it a chance.

I tried one of their bottle rockets as well and it was worthless for me. I posted the brake I ended up going with a few pages back.

Yea... I would assume it would work better than the cherry bomb but based on withoutwarning's pic on the last page, it looks like the majority of the blast is still forward of the muzzle rather than to either side.
