What has peoples wait times typically been for their rifle? I bought mine mid April 18’ and am still waiting on it...

Found mine in stock at a dealer months ago. I’d give them a call and “express” some frustrations.

Mine with the proof barrel is a hammer. The accuracy issues seem to be the Bartlein/Tooley barreled rifles. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Q dropped that option.

So the issue was with two very well known and respected individuals/companies? Not only do I find that hard to believe (I don’t for a second), I’m surprised you’ve jumped to that conclusion. There’s much that’s helpful on here, but I think most thinking folks can file this under the bs and drama catagory.

It should be for 3k, tgey should be guaranteed 1/2 moa. Masterpiece arms is 3/8.

If you want to talk guarantees. I can find ammo that won’t shoot 3/8 in masterpiece. Just like I can find ammo that can shoot half Moa in Q.

Functionally the difference between half moa and sub Moa is negligible for most people. When you start talking half of 3/8 moa everything has to be right and most shooters are not capable of it imo.

I am not capable of consistently shooting 3/8 group...

I understand that but I’ve seen it before in other rifles like when I carried my m24 in Iraq it was a 1/4 inch rifle. So I’d expect that with the right ammo. Especially when some of my cheaper bolt guns do 3/4 inch with the right ammo.

Anyone that knows anything about precision rifles knows that the majority of the accuracy comes from the barrel and nothing about the design of this action would hinder accuracy as it’s basically a manually operated SR-25 as far as action lockup is concerned. As someone who’s been burned in the past I’m not the least bit surprised either.

Where’s the sub-par accuracy reports coming from? I would like more info.
FWIW, my personal gun shoots 130 gr Berger’s 1/2 -3/4 MOA, when I do my part.

My Bartline/Tooley Barrel is an absolute hammer, my father-in-law’s is as well.
I’ve shot consistently.5 moa with three different loads. I have zero complaints, as a matter of I went and spent more money with Mr. Tooley due to my experience with my Fix.

I also have had no issues with my rifles accuracy, but I feel like people are trying to make a screw driver a hammer here. I Run my Fix along side my department SR/OBR intro course every other week and it shines. It hits what I point it at close, far, from the prone, kneeling, standing, off tripods of every configuration, uphill and downhill, when I’m freezing or tired and in a box with a fox. But I don’t look at an ultralight rifle with a pencil thin barrel and expect it to be a bench rest gun. Sling it to your back and take it for a hike or a hunt like it was meant to, you’ll love it.

No complaints with my Bartlein/Tooley Barrel. 140 ELDs over 42.2 gr of H4350 in Prime brass hammers. Took a buck this fall with Barnes 127 LRXs too. Like someone said above, this is not a bench rest or PRS type gun. It's light and easy to hike with and shoot from non-prone positions. It's a lightweight gun which means you need to put more effort in maintaining good fundamentals if you want to shoot tight groups. So, if you don't have good fundamentals, it will show in your group size.

I have the 308 Bartlein/Tooley barrel and posted up two ffive shot groups at 200 yds and it is more accurate than I am with it at the moment.

Also, for you guys griping about wait times, I waited 53 weeks.

So I ask them to send the barrel in to us so we can look at it. Sure enough not our barrel. A good example is I had one customer that had 6 rifles and all supposedly had our barrels on them. Barrels come in and all of the barrels had 6 groove rifled barrels on them. I had to call the manufacturer up and tell them we we're not warranting any of the barrels for anything. The manufacturer asked why. I said not our barrels! Told them we never made them 6 groove barrels. So who's barrels did you put on the customers rifle? Phone went quiet! Manufacturer did it not once but twice.

Figures, every single Bartlein Barrel i have owned has shot lights out. Not to say that one may possible get a bad one but it should be very few and far between.

So was the barrel labeled as yours but not, or was the customer just not educated and assumed it was a bartlein?

So the other night, I found an unattended lathe. I'm not a machinist or even skilled. But it seemed like a good time to put the 6.5 Bart/Tooley barrel on a diet.

Changed the taper:

Finished weight 2.7lbs:

All I did was copy the profile on a barrel fieldcraft. Sort of. Obviously cutting it down shorter would be more substantial in the weight loss category. There seemed to be a lot more meat on there then it needed to have.

Before the super barrel smith guys jump all over me--someone who doesn't want or claim to be a machinist. I went really slow and took off a little bit in each pass. It took like 22 min per pass on the straight part. Which means it took hours. Never got hot. Barely warm. Still shoots like a laser. Just not as heavy of a laser.

Has anyone run Prime ammo through their 6.5 proof barrel yet? I’m looking at picking some up, but don’t want to invest in a case until trying some, which is hard to do where I live in Alaska.

I bought prime for the brass. It shoots MOA at best in my 6.5 fix bartlein barrel (spelling?). I’ve been working on hand loads but a majority of my loads the holes are touching. Prime is the only factory ammo I tried. I wish it liked it better

If I just pushed the easy button it would be the Win featherweight contour to save weight. Or I could get creative and push another easy button and use an AR-10 contour. I've got two Sig 716 6.5 blanks. I need to weigh them. Bartlein says for the FW only in CM but the Q 308 barrel is much smaller before the muzzle boss. I should be able to get them to make it for 308 based cases. None of you guys are going to hunt in -40 degree temps are you?

I think a 16.5 inch featherweight 7mm-08ai or 7mm SAW would be awesome...

I really want a 4-16 amg or similiar quality in 30mm tube to complete the light weight build

I think 7mm Creedmoor would be the best fit for the internal mag limitations. If I couldn’t run 162’s then to me anything 7mm would be pointless and i’d be better off with a 6.5 Creedmoor.
I’m thinking .22 Creedmoor for my next barrel, I think it would make for a great light weight coyote rifle.

.22 Creedmoor would strictly be for killing, I played around with my standard 7-08 162gr load in a KAC mag and it wasn’t a good fit at all.
