Same here. Ratchet and socket, it was plenty tight but came loose no problem.

How are people removing the cherry bomb muzzle brakes?
I don’t want to damage anything having seen in the Accuracy International thread some one has ripped off the threads on a barrel ?
The chance of that happening is near impossible, those threads were probably overtorqued on install of that happened.
The best way to do muzzle devices in this case is to hold the barrel with a barrel vise. 30 seconds with a heat gun on the brake only also never hurts. This will slightly expand the brake as well as soften up any loctite that may be present. Then pop it off with a 1/2” socket on the end.
make sure to get a good think wall socket that can seat inside the cherry bomb. I had to go to lowes and get the one they suggested. My set had thicker walls and it could get a good fit into the brake
Ok The Fix owners. Anyone regret it? I mean obviously there are many fans. I just don’t see the rifles for sale used and that’s a huge sign that people love them. All the reviews are positive. I’ve got cash to spend and I think it’s what I want. Is there anything in the same price range you’d rather have? I can’t think of anything. AI AX308 is 3k more. Other than that... nothing else I’d want.

I love mine. Lightweight, accurate, cool design, can't really ask for much more than that. As long as you understand what it is...a lightweight utility rifle.
I don’t regret buying mine. The only other rifle I wish I had looked at is the Christensen MPA, which seems like a sweet gun and is somewhat cheaper. I think I would have been happy with either, but at the end of the day the Fix is something truly different than anything else out there and the cool factor is pretty damn high.
i saw the MPA but was not impressed with it. The amount of flex in the handguard was obscene to me.

The most satisfying firearms purchase I've made in years. It's every bit as accurate as my SRS but light enough to fire offhand with a clip on and suppressor if you have to.
Very happy with the rifle; far more accurate than I am. I can't say that I'm pleased with all the drama surrounding the barrels.

I think if you go 6.5CM you’re good to go.
Mines had a lot of light primer strikes, 15 in just under 400 rounds.
Has some feeding and extraction issues, came from the factory with a bent top rail and I got a green mountain barrel.
But all in all if you can get past the thin and narrow buttpad it’s a lightweight, compact rifle with great ergonomics, great trigger and it’s fun to shoot.
The bolt lift is heavy but gets better the more you shoot it (bothered me at the start but is totally fine now) and I find if you run the bolt with authority then the extraction/feeding/light primer strikes don’t seem to happen, I think.
Does anyone have a .308 that’s a shooter?
Still not sure how accurate mine is but I cleaned it and then ran a bunch of different ammo through it today and none of it was all that encouraging. 1 group for the whole day was sub moa the rest were at an inch or larger.
Ammo I ran:
Perfecta FMJ 147gr
1.5-4 inch groups
PPU Rifle Line BTHP 168gr
1.5-2 inch groups
Federal Gold Medal Match Sierra Matchking 168gr
0.65-1.4 inch groups
Hornady Black AMAX 155gr
1 inch groups
Hornady Precision Hunter ELDX 178gr
2 inch groups (going to say I botched these)
(The bold squares are 10mm by the way and shooting done at 100m.)
@withoutwarning I've got a 308 barrel on mine and had much better results. I will say the gun is more difficult to shoot then others due to it's size and weight. It took me a few hundred rounds to really get it shooting good but it appeared to be me not the gun.

125 gr SST Custom Lite
168 gr GMM
175 gr GMM
178 gr ELD-X Precision Hunter
Hand rolled 178gr ELD-X
They will all shoot sub MOA if I do my part. Below is my last five shot group with 125 gr SST Custom Lite. Love using those on whitetail.

I did notice on Q's website that they mention using ammo like XM or Ball ammo meant for semi auto may cause light primer strikes
I’m going to be done posting until I get mine set up and shoot some groups for myself but you shouldn’t accept this. This is cheap PA10 accuracy.
Q website is still offering Bartlein barrels as an upgrade but makes no mention of Green Mountain.

It would nice if they would publish comparison data. Consumers should have more substance other than a memo/email for a $3K rifle. I know, asking too much.
Yeah I agree it does jump around a lot because of the weight and I do need to practice with it and get a lot of dry fire in too with a solid grip on it.
Does it seem to prefer the 168gr or 175gr GMM?
Still too early to say and I’ve got a lot more ammo to try before I decide the barrel sucks but I know I need a lot more practice also.

So this is literally the first post I’v ever made to any forum. I’ve got The Fix in 308 and joined just to get some other opinions. Best group I can get from this rifle is 2”. Worst group of the day was 3”. This is out of the Bart/Tooley barrel. I’v tried 4 different ammo brands and 1 handload and still absolute garbage. I contacted Q and they got back to me a couple days later and said to send the rifle back in for a barrel swap for one of their barrels. I’m assuming that’s going to be a GM barrel? Am I getting the bad end of the deal by swapping a Bartlien barrel for a Green Mountain? Rifle is in the mail as of this morning so I’m kind of at the mercy of Q right now. I have to include that this is my favorite rifle by far and just want it to be a shooter. I emailed Bartlien with no response yet but that’s expected during the holidays.

Weather their is a difference in performance or not some people care about the bartlein/tooley others don’t. It’s like advertising a truck with a Cummins diseal engine, but then saying we are using our own engine. Somepeople find value in the name others don’t. I would have requested a proof barrel as I find them closer to quality/brand. But Qs position which I understand is the gm does performance at the same level so what difference does it make.
Damn... I sent them an email saying I wanted the barrel swapped for the B/T but if they say ok, now I’m concerned they would just swap your busted barrel for mine haha.
This... I need consistent sub moa with at least one good factory hunting load. That’s all I ask for. I’m not even asking that it outshoot my Bergara

Well I’m taking the leap. I found a B/T 6.5 new at Cabela’s. Number 3XX shouldn’t have heavy bolt lift right? I will admit that I am stoked that it has a Bartlein barrel chambered by a well known and talented Smith. I’m sure the other barrels are awesome shooters as well. But I haven’t seen anyone with a 6.5 B/T complain about their accuracy.
I don’t have any pics sorry. Federal premium 168gr sierra match king had the best group at 2”. Hand loads were 165gr SST and were just a touch larger on groups than the SMK. Hornady 150gr American Whitetail was 3” best group. Hornady superformance 165gr was 2 1/2”. Federal fusion 165gr was 2 3/4”. Break in was done according to Bartlien barrel recommendation as per website. I waited exactly 5 mins between each shot to rule out barrel getting hot and in 32 degree weather barrel and action were noticeably cold to the touch. Shooting was from a bench with bags. Very solid setup. Groups were very odd. First shot would be low to poa by 1/2” roughly. 2nd shot would be high to poa by 1/2” roughly. 3rd shot would be touching the 1shot impact. 4th shot would be touching the 2nd shot impact. I had some hope at this point and told myself if the 5th shot split the difference or was touching any of the other 4 impacts I would be “content”... 5th shot was high right by 1/2” to poa. I can’t recall which ammo had that grouping but to me it was odd. At the end of the day I just wasn’t satisfied. I tried to give it time, break in procedure, and really focus on shooting but with nothing grouping worth a hoot. I know it will be made right but patience is not my virtue.
I’m no gunsmith but that sounds to me like some sort of harmonics issue. Something loose or just a hair out of place. You’ve checked the scope? Could be the optic. Sounds like a classic optic issue as well. I will say that ammo you’re using other than the FGMM doesn’t fit the “match grade” in my opinion but others can comment. Sorry you’re having issues.
Only harmonics issue I could find in the forum was a top rail screw contacting the barrel. I checked and nothing was in contact with the barrel. I agree with you 100% that it’s not quite “match grade” ammo I’m using but it’s a hunting rifle and other reviews say that sub moa is capable with certain hunting loads. Optic could be at play. I do have another MK5 I could throw on it when it comes back. Optic had no issues on last rifle but still a possibility. I am open to any suggestions on ammo that people have had better results with. Specifically hunting loads because that is the intended purpose of the rifle. Thanks guys.
I know where one is brand new 6.5 Bart barrel for 2500. DM me if you are interested. Not sure on serial number but mine is just a few shy of 600 and this one came in with it.
so this is very odd to me too...it seems like you have vertical issue but not horizontal. Only issues i can think of are velocity with ammo but the change would have to be big an inch spread. Given that its up and down that should rule out scope issues as it would be random.
As you already sent it back, not much hope in figuring out what is going on. I was a bit surprised that there was not a group given with each rifle.

i have a bartlein/tooley barrel in 6.5CM (one of the first ones) and consistently prints .5 moa using factory H 143 ELDX. Surprised the crap out of me, did i get lucky?
Probably not. From an engineer at Q .5 MOA is the norm for B/T 6.5 barrels.
That’s why I want one. If I’m gonna pay the same price, give me the high end barrel that no one has complained about. I’ve seen complaints about the 16 308 and the non-B/T 6.5s but I haven’t seen anyone lamenting their B/T 6.5 accuracy.
