The cap on my unit sucks ass.
I have to twist it on. Takes forever. Then there is no such beast for the lookie end.
Anxiously waiting on you guys to figure it out.

Also, how do you do PIP? I thought I read that this unit did picture in a picture. Not a gamechanger either way for me, but I would like to know how to use it.

Either from menu on thermal screen or from app. In one of the image menus…

Wait, there's an app? I guess I need to read my instructions  what is the app called? Can you set all the settings from the app itself as I find the menu to be a pain.

Bro... The app is what makes it cuz yes all the settings are controlled from it including zeroing.... Lol

Steiner connect

Good luck on finding some instructions on how to use it though. I downloaded the app but haven't played with it much.
But it looks like its going to be a trial and error of figuring this shit out.

App is pretty simple to play with. I growed up in Arkansaw pubic skool and fingered it out kindly quick

Finally got to get out with my C35. A coyote and a couple if pigs down. It takes a bit of getting used to kinda having to run 2 optics at once, compared to just using my Super Hogster. I need to get the range finder thing up on it. We got on a bunch of hogs, and once the sounder ran, I had no idea what hold I needed.

Looking forward to getting mine out soon.
Curious as to what scope and what magnification you were running.
Also, what was the range you were shooting at?
Anything you would set up differently the next time?
Thanks

I've had mine in the field a few times now, works well as a scanner and even better as an actual clip-on. I've run mine mostly behind a 3-12 Hendsoldt only because it was the scope at the right height on the right gun (full length rail.) I'll put some time in after hunting season on getting it on a conventionally stocked rifle - which seems to be a pain in the ass process.
I have also run it behind a 2.5-10X42 Nightforce, and I think I need to go to a true 1-10X or thereabout. I hate the idea of giving up the low light capabilities to go to a common 1-10x24 (or something), but need to find the right fit. If only someone would make an awesome 1.5-10x42, I'd buy several.

For me, above about 8-10 is useless in real world scenarios I encounter. I want more usable image at the low end than I ever need at the high end. That said, I don't have 500 yard shots in the dark I would take, so my application dictates my setup, and other applications vary.

I appreciate the mention of the optics carrier, ordering ASAP, and of the scope caps - though I wish I had read further in the thread before stopping at the specs and immediately ordering.

And the app is titties, definitely put the time in to using the app to its potential - though I did not zero with mine, will have to figure that out.

Using a Vortex PST 1-6x. First time using this scope outside the range. I may end up swapping out that scope for another 1-6x power which has a fully illuminated reticle. The red dot on the PST gen 2 is almost too bright. The reticle wont really work well if you like black being hot. It work for me with white hot, but i think having a dull, red full reticle maybe the ticket. The other thing i have thought about is a 2-10x FFP PST. Above 6x is worthless with the clip on IMO.
The initial shots were probably 75 yards. Then there was some bad leads and mag dumping down to about 20 yards. Trying to clean up some dummies at 200+. Alot of my aim fundamentals went out the window by that point . It's my first time really shooting at runners, so I need to work on that.
I was using a 11.5" 5.56 gun. Ammo was home brew 60gr VMAXs. They do 2600FPS at the muzzle. They probably aren't the best choice ammo wise, but I needed something for both coyote and pig. My buddy was shooting my normal pig gun, a 12.5" 6.8 SPC. I had a lot of hits which didn't do shit. We had 3 total shooters. Hit a bunch of pigs. Only recovered 6. Which is fine, we are just trying to get rid of them, but I you want to recover, I wouldn't run those VMAXs on the pigs. If I use that gun again on pigs, it will be home brew 62gr Fusions, and bring the VMAXs for coyotes.

I do have video, I'll try to get it edited down and post it... even with me shitty shooting.

So that brings up a good point.
I have played around in the yard with mine on several different rifles and found that the parallax needed to be adjusted to as close as possible. I seemed to get 100% of image focus through the Steiner focus ring and parallax did nothing.
What is your experience with using the parallax on your rifle scope?

I defaulted to standard passive clip on best practice....

Set your paralax to infinity or close to it and use the fucus on the clip on

I'm referring to the big problem with non columated clip-ons. Maybe a beller example is bipod deflection: when you rest/load your rifle on a bipod you are applying to the end of your handguard ( ar 15 platform) causing the barrel to change its relative position in relation to the handguard. Your thermal is mounted to the end of your handguard, when add or remove pressure to you handguard via bipod or tripod or even a rifle rest, your thermal clip on changes position in relation to your barrel. Effectively changing your point of aim slightly.

If I'm not making enough sense shoot me a pm with your number and we can talk about it

This is something that is on my to do list this weekend to test. I've got a super consistent bolt gun to zero the C35 on and wanted to see what/if any shift is induced due to flex by putting a heavy load on the bipod. I will probably do that at 200 yd.

Here is some video from this past weekend. Again, not the greatest shooting, but there were a lot of hits. The group at the very end we end up shooting at as well.

Here is a coyote video from earlier the same night. I shot an instant before my buddy. Which was good, because he missed completely
