It definitely grabs some attention! It is our war wagon for our desert outings here around Vegas, and when I head up to Northern Nevada durring hunting season and scouting trips I will be able to put it through its paces. We beat the hell out of it growing up in Montana crawling around the mountains around Boulder Montana and the surrounding areas. Pretty good old truck, it has had atleast 9 lives. The Peterbilt is my work truck, I took it up by Pioche Nevada when I took that buck a couple years ago. Opening morning I was on the side of a ridge and I could still see my Pete sitting down on this jeep trail I had drove it up and the game warden pulled up next to it, got out, and walked all the way around my truck...lmao, I am guessing that was the first Peterbilt he had ever seen on that particular trail!

As a side note; that steel elk target is AWESOME!

Re: The ultimate hunting rig!

LOL! It just started out as an orange Ford F100, I had done the paint myself and completely gone through the power train, rebuilt engine, trans, transfercase, both diffs, put a lift on it and someone had installed one of those cheap j.c. whitney sun roofs in it. It blew out going down the road, so the "NATURAL FIX" was to weld shut the sunroof opening, do some Earle Shybe body work and slap the "General Tribute" decals to avoid having to repaint the cab! LMAO It turned out pretty good for an old beater truck! It belonged to my older brother who has passed away, so it has alot of sentimental value and I think it would bring a smile to his face to see it still running up and down the road turning heads!

my very first rig was a 71 Highboy with a built 390. that was also a Montana truck. I miss that truck and Montana

It just has the 300 6 cylinder, good little engines, not the fastest rig in the world, but it gets around pretty good! I miss Montana also, I get up there once a year for hunting season so that helps!

Re: The ultimate hunting rig!

The general took its last ride today. Fortunately for myself and my good friend JFComfort we both walked away from it, we narrowly missed a head on collision and I took it to the ditch, here is the carnage of what is left of the general. JF broke a bone in his shoulder and I walked away with a torn up shoulder and a few scrapes...could have been sooo much worse. Just glad that my good friend is ok! Sorry again JF for putting you in that situation!

Re: The ultimate hunting rig!

Hog you don't have anything to apologize about! It could have been so much worse and you saved our asses! Thank you for keeping your cool in a tough situation.

Re: The ultimate hunting rig!

Hope you heal up soon man. My shoulder is pretty trashed too. The towing company is giving us the run around, they wont release the truck to my wife, bunch of goddamn vultures! They are wanting to keep it to get all of my goodies...pisses me off ....dont get me wrong the truck is the least of my worries, but it is still aggrevating!

Get well soon JF!

Yeah we got it picked up, a buddy of mine is going to strip it down for me. I found your knife in there too JF, I have it in the pocket of my pajamas!

Yeah, it definitely has seen its better days, I am just glad everyone lived. I love old vehicles, but right now I am seriously thinking about changing my thought process there. There may have to be a new version of the general in my future.

Re: The ultimate hunting rig!

Thanks for all of your nice comments guys, I am pretty beat up, but glad to be sitting here hurting rather than taking a dirt nap, or worse having to bury one of my best friends. The general had a good long life and wasn't left to die a slow death in a junk yard, it went out gallantly....the last ride of the General and its immortals!

Re: The ultimate hunting rig!

Ah man!!!

Really glad to see you two are okay. Now quit fucking wasting time and get to building another one dammit! I simply will not be happy until then! Oh, and the whole reason it went on it's side is because it was missing two cylinders in the first place. Threw off it's balance don't cha know.
