Absolutely my favorite movie as a kid. Brilliant (if campy) mercenary drama.

I can't think of a movie that was more of an... well... inspiration. In lots of ways. Such a great flick!

Just taped it off.... Sundance or somesuch. Have not seen it in almost 40 years!

Joan Armatrading did the theme song? I had no %$#@ing idea who that was when I was 14....

What I sure as S&^% knew was that guys in Berets rocked.... African sh**holes needed to be policed... by guys in berets. Merchant Bankers needed to be iced... and that a suppressed Hi-Power and a cigar... ruled the world.

If you haven't seen it... well, hard to understand.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Haven't seen it in about 15 years. Awesome stuff. :)

The Dogs of War was another great one. Especially the book.

Modern day (sort of) Blood Diamond did a good job too.

I don't miss Africa, but I'd be happy to go back. :)

Saw that movie as an 8 year old. The sleeping guys getting gassed with cyanide was confusing, my dad told me it was a bug sprayer and that is what happens if you breathe it, so don't mess with the one in the garage.

Movie had morals though, they took care of problems even after the mission.

I had to watch it again and found myself with some time to kill today. Watched it on Youtube, pretty awesome all these years later. Still can't figure out how they intended to take out all three sentries if they happened to be awake.;-)

I caught it on HBO go for the first time a year or so ago, I enjoyed it. Not really what us "millenials" are accustomed to watching, but I'll take that or John Wayne flicks over much of what is being spewed these days.
