Night Vision Thermal Optic Focus?

Planning to upgrade my thermal stuff and am considering a dedicated scope rather than a clip on.
Looking at the Nvision Halo series, I see that they are all fixed focus.
I am guessing that if the focus were really necessary, they would have it.
I would be using it from less than 100 yards to under 300. Has anyone using these found the lack of focus adjustment a hinderance?
My experience with thermal is limited to a COTI on a pair of binos and my C35. I can’t imagine not having focus adjustment on the C35.
Is it different with a dedicated unit?

I have a Halo LR and the focus is great until you get to 20 feet or less, so everything from 20 feet to infinity works great.

Nvision and Trijicon Hunters have the fixed focus. I've ran a lot of different thermals and I much prefer the infinite focus on my Nvision stuff.

Looking at your dog laying on the other side of the living room doesn't look as good without the focus abilty....

It's good for most any hunting under 300 yards though

I can try to grab some pics through the S35 or C35 and a HALO LR side by side if you have some specific comparisons you'd like to make

The auto-focus on the Halo series works very well. If you are looking at objects at real close range like inside of 20 feet, then you may have issues but for a scope, you should be fine. Honestly on my manual focus scopes, I typically look at an object about 150 yards away adjust the focus and rarely touch that either. The Halo series are really nice scopes. I just posted a review of the Halo XRF. I do a ton of hunting and have personally used and tested Bering Optics, Trijicon, N-Vision, Flir, Pulsar, PRG, PARD and more.
