Thinking about selling my 700 should I part it out

Hey guys, I built a Remington model 700 in 300 RUM, I started with a Stainless SPS {$700}, then added a Wyatt detachable mag {I bought 2 additional mags so I spent $550 there}, a Grey web bell and carlson a5 stock {$440}, Harris swivel bi pod {$140}, Zeiss Stainless scope and mount {$900}, I had the mag and a tactical bolt knob installed {$100}, and I bought a jewell trigger that I havent had installed yet {$225}. So Im into it for over $3000 not to mention what i spent on the 300 rum reloading dies and have never fired it, its just collecting dust, I was going to change the barrel and get the action done next, but I have lost intrest... I have been so happy with my 5r mil spec that I just cant justify dumping more money into this rig... Also making it worse is the fact my brother in law has twin Kimber 1911's that he wants to sell me and the only way I can get them is to get rid of this...
I was thinking about putting the parts on eebay but they dont allow you to sell gun parts like mags and triggers....
So what would you do????

Best you typically can do, excluding some high demand items in short supply, is near or under the dealer cost. For many items one can find someone to sell at 10% or less over dealer cost, thus to make your "used" (while not fired has been sold)equipment attractive you need to have a discount of some type. Additionally the chance of finding someone that wishes this exact project gun is lower and thus may require additional discounting.

Thus for discussion if dealer cost for 80% for street price, then on a good day you might get 80% of that (a great day is making dealer price ;-), for a total discount of a third (bad days/time can't sell for half).

Can you put the Remington back into near factory condition and sell that way, plus part out the remaining items? If not then you are either selling a barreled action or a complete rifle with a non factory stock (that is a positive to some and negative to others).

I was thinking $2000 but there arent many people out there looking to spend $2K on a rifle rite now...

if you know someone on here have them list it for sale for you. if you seperate the scope from rifle you could maybe get it sold for around 2K.

send me a pm with few more details i might no someone that might be interested. this would be a good canidate to turn into 338 edge.

Im was thinking the same thing, the scope is pretty universal and they sell good on ebay... The trigger is still brand new and not in the rifle yet, so I should still be able to get $200 for that, then maybe 1400 for the rifle with the stock, mags, ect...

What would I have to do to convert this into a 338 lapua? what woul it cost rough idea? thanks guys

If you going to attempt the .338LM build... it WONT be cheap..

The barrel.. obviously would have to go... and the bolt MAY have to be opened a tad...

I had a HARD time really getting builders excited in doing the build...

In the end... money wise.. it was cheaper to by a .338 LM factory rifle... Remington MLR...

I know there are SEVERAL builders here that will do it... and will do GREAT work..

Why not turn it into a 338 EDGE ? Biggest Complaint I hear is Brass Quality Available for the parent Cart,300 RUM and no factory ammo availible.Benchmark BBL's will do a custom bbl fitted to your action for $525 out the door.
