Jimmy Cartier was the reason I vowed to never vote democrat. I turned 18 in 1979, and cast my first vote, in 1980, for Ronald Reagan, because of Carter’s failed economics, failed foreign policy, and Billy.
Giving away Panama canal was freaking inexcusable.

I think it was Heinlein through one of his characters who surmised that Woodrow Wilson was the first modern american socialist dictator. However, I think it was in "Number of the Beast" that was written quite sometime after "Time Enough for Love," with the main character being Woodrow Wilson Smith, AKA Woody, AKA Lazarus Long, Capt. Sheffield, and a few others.
Yes Wilson was the worst. We also learned if TR can't win with a third party no one can.
Something to ponder, TR gave the WH to Wilson by splitting the R vote, and the R's have been split ever since.

Carter was the last Democrat I voted for, and that was under duress. UAW union thugs threatened each and every one of us with loss of good standing if we didn't vote for him. That said, we all know he was a pretty lousy President. He was worthy of the Nobel. Much more so than Obummer ever could have been. Carter was a true humanitarian and the world is a better place because of him. Too bad really that he was such a lousy President.

Wow he really hung in there. Sympathies to his surviving relatives. I've said it here before and I'll say it again- while I share the 'group think' opinion that his administration was.. well frankly disastrous, he's one of the few politicians that I can't help but give just a bit of grace.
I can only imagine how different his legacy would be had he not served his term as President. In my heart of hearts, I really do believe he had one of the most empathetic and sincere personalities wanting to help his fellow man. Unfortunately those traits don't exactly mesh well in the world of politics, especially at the executive office level. I don't think he was equipped to be in that office, I think he was taken advantage of (due to his trusting nature) by the people he/his party surrounded him with and they used him as a convenient face/proxy to carry out their agendas.
But with that said, he might be the best example of someone who dedicated their lives to "service" and had done more selfless good for actual Americans than any recent (ex) president that I can think of and it's my belief that should and does count for something.

F you Jimmy. F you with a telphone pole that's been climbed a million times!!! The damage you did to this country was vast. Your monitary policy about ended my family's business and did destroy hundreds of thousands of other family-run business. Despite the fact you didn't outright hate The USA, your policies were awful. Iran hostage crisis handling...awful. Dept of Education put us into a race to the third world. Despite reading this weekend that you led us THROUGH the recession, there are plenty of us that know you CAUSED, via poor policy, the recession (which was more like a small depression) even though I'll cut you some slack that moving off the gold standard did not help.
For a while Jimmy, I thought maybe you were a decent man. Your work in charity was certainly decent and you did put your labor where your mouth was on that, for that I had some respect. But you blew all that when you came after Trump and his supporters by showing that you too, had fallen for the New Communist Manifesto and unable to think past your so-called "Democrat" party which has been, since the days of Woodrow Wilson, a child of Communist Party to actually the leader of the World Communist movement. For that, your "charity" work, is so discounted it matters not. Your effort to clean up your name failed as a result of your renewed vows towards communism/Marxism.
