GOd this is good, I dont know what is better, the main article about a 1600 1" group AR or ROJKOH and his custom bullet!!!! I bet he preferes "hand loads"!

I have an AR Grendel that shoots .33" groups at 100m and I think that is outstanding. 1" at 1 mile? For a ballistic solution? Whatever.

I was an SDM instructor in the army and we taught them to use irons first and then ACOGS and they shot pretty well with their issue Colt M4's and regular rail systems. They had regular barrels (well, a few did get the heavier SOPMOD barrels if theirs were damaged) and M855's were the most special bullets we used. They could all hit standard silhouettes at 600m; you could stretch it to 1000m but it has to do with probability due to MOA at that range (so area target past 600m with an issue M4 might be an accurate statement).

It works best to 300m because most soldiers can't shoot past that with irons or an optic given their training. Increase the training, increase the range. Your average soldier doesn't need special bullets and special barrels because he/she can't deploy them to their full advantage.

I dont know what is worse, wasting time on a guy that says his AR holds a 1"group at 1600m or ROJKOH and his make believe world. Hell I think the seller is full of crap if he meant to say 1"MOA at 1600m thats still about a 16" group at a mile.

B3dlam I agree with your statement, if he shoots a few thousand rounds, I believe this is possible, I volunteer my rifle and my time if somebody brings the ammo, I think I can find an empty barn to use as a target. Lol

Fire enough rounds and at some point you would get that, it's just the odds are well extremely low, like you have a higher chance of falling down a flight of stairs well directly a marching band from with a car thats into a plane (thats not impossible but it's never going to happen). Because lets face it random groups can occur that are very good, which is why the average is the only important number.

Makes me feel better! When I first read his first post, immediately my BS flag went up... While I do know that a 5.56 can reach out to 1600meters, it won't be making any 1" or 1 MOA groups in my honest opinion. To me, with specialty ammo and the right barrel twist rate to match the weight/ogive design of a projectile, consistant 800meter shots are very possible and even probable. I have seen 1k hits with USGI ball 55 and 62 gr out of M16A2s at quantico on the sniper range. So with a match gun shooting match ammo, 1000m hits at 1 to 1.5 MOA would not surprise me at all.

U guys must be really bad at the range. In GA we shoot 1600m keyholes all the time. Maybe everyone should just be shooting more. I mean really guys. It's not that hard. 0 yeah, and we do it with 1911's and glocks. Just a small hold over. P of cake!!!!

I used to shoot in a 600 yard league every Tuesday evening. We would regularly get people bringing out AR15's to shoot. To get best results, they usually had to single load rounds with a 77 grain bullet.

With the proper load and driver, the 5.56x45 did just fine at 600 yards....on a regular basis. Many shooters did fairly well with magazine fed 68/69 brain bullets, but of course, the best results came with the heavier bullets loaded long.

I've had some moderate sucess engaging 750yd LaRue auto-resets using a 20" 8" twist .223 match chamber and Privi 75grn JHP.

Okay...I'll bite...this would seem to be very probable...if the shooter were within a reasonable distance of the Target...and I had very good glass...I'm sure I could "watch" him shoot 1 inch groups at 1600 meters...now that's simple math...tehe...
